(because I want to be the awesome cool great-aunt who is 100, ok)

er.

1. Christmas holidays with the family went fairly smoothly, aside from my sister's need to constantly hate on Clara Oswald (like, ffs, I get it, you don't like her. LET ME HAVE MY LOVE FOR HER AND SHUT UP). I'm fairly sure my sister has started at least one gleeful thread about the crow episode and how awesome it was (being non-spoilery).

It was annoying, though, as I wanted to get into talking about Bill, but the negativity basically sucked out that idea.

2. I am up to the pyramid episode of season ten and. I am taking a break. On a good note, though, I do like Bill.

3. I was using the ersatz genremixer the other day, and got "Irene Adler - falsely imprisoned" as a prompt. And. lol. Just lol. Also, these two? I feel like they are a given (if one has recently re-watched the Marple Sittaford Mystery--also, fandom, where is my Emily/Violet femslash)
Emily Trefusis - hostile climate
Violet Trevelyan - trust issues

This one is tempting, too. Martha Jones / Lee Adama - lost childhood

Also. Chiana / Ianto Jones - Four-leaf clover

Erm. As you can tell, I was all about the crossovers. Also. These two were separated a bit, but I LAUGHED AND LAUGHED. Because it is so true.
Jane Marple - holiday
Jane Marple - cursed

I have a bunch I plan to write ficlets for and will post at some point.

4. I randomly made a new desktop while down south, out of a bunch of the Noto art (whoops, and Mockingbird is not Noto but Joelle Jones. My bad) I have. It is shiny, although I feel there are one or two spots I could have improved. Oh well, it works for me.

5. Mom and I watched season five of Scott and Bailey (sadly the end) and I don't have a lot of deep thoughts upon it aside from being a little... uncomfortable with Janet's actions. I should make a post with spoiler cuts and more thoughts at some point (right after I finish up the Sherlock one which I came across notes on just now).

6. Along with Midsomer Murders fanfic. Oh, self.

7. I have this file at work that I basically open in notepad, add the new date and then... whenever there's anything I want to write, I write in it. It means I end up with all sorts of things jumbled together including episode quotes.

Motive 1x9: SURPRISE ALESSANDRO JULIANI. Otherwise, a solid episode. (Angiiiieeee. sigh. she is hot and amazing)

1. Is anyone watching Scandal? I've only seen the first two episodes, but I found it entertaining. I don't think it's particularly GOOD tv, but I have this thing for the kind of things they do (sneaking onto crime scenes! Protecting madames who are grandmas!). The only sour note is the eye-roll-worthy "OMG OLIVIA LOVES THE PRESIDENT AND SHE IS HIS TRU LUV" and the attendant "she can't resist him" nonsense.

2. I watched the second and third seasons of Wish Me Luck. I liked them both, but they were very different from each other. The second continued where the first left off, but the third deviated and went to a different plot-line. And at the end, Liz got to be Christine Granville for a bit (and Miss Ashley continued to be Vera Atkins). I do think the third focused more on the male characters than the first two did--and I didn't enjoy that as much, but I also preferred it to one of the plot-lines from the second series which was baffling in its stupidity (and I don't normally dislike female characters, but I kept wanting to slap Vivian during the second season.)

3. Revenge--er, I haven't seen last night yet. But I've seen last week. AND I HAD FORGOTTEN HOW MUCH I MISSED IT. Show, never go away for that long again, please. Though, erm, one of the new plotlines felt rather shoe-horned in. (I just looked James Purefoy up. Suddenly, the reason for my urge to punch him in the face when he appeared is explained. I hated him in Resident Evil)

4. WHAT am I going to do once the last episode (of series two) of Scott and Bailey airs next week? This show is amazing and ridiculous, and I love it so. Every week, I sort of make gleeful noises as the credits roll. (RACHEL AND JANET AND GILL, HOW ARE YOU ALL SO AMAZING?) Also, I love that half the significant conversations occur in bathrooms and hallways and stairwells. eta: also, 2x7 had Melody Pond meeting Idris. hahahah.

5. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries continues to be somewhat entertaining, if sometimes a little... uncomfortable in the way it treats the ~Orient~. I continue to miss Mac deeply.

6. My thoughts on the new season of Eureka are... spoilery. I'll have to make a different post at some point.

7. I'm two episodes behind on Missing, Person of Interest is still on hiatus (I think?), and I think that might be all of the currently-airing TV I watch. Hrm. (Leverage will be back July 15th, according to TNT's site. HURRAH)
lyssie: (Scott and Bailey)
1. Janet Scott is amazing. I don't think I have words for how incredibly amazing she is. She just. is.

2. Rachel Bailey is hilarious, and should probably try NOT to drunk-dial her boss. *coughs*

3. GILL IS ALSO AMAZING. "That would be highly unethical, yeah. Go for it."

1. Scott and Bailey is back. I'm fairly certain my gleeful happiness could be heard all up and down the street. My thoughts basically boil down to: <3 <3 <3 OMG Gill's bff from the other syndicate <3 <3 Gill! <3 Janet! Janet's mum! Rachel! <3 etc, etc, etc.

2. Lost Girl is having its season finale next Sunday. What am I going to do while it's on hiatus? *angsts* (that said, 2x21 <3)

3. Mac was back in the latest Phryne Fisher installment (hurrah!). The show continues to be entertaining fluff. With dead bodies.

4. I plowed my way through Dragonsdawn last week (maybe plow is the wrong word, as I mostly enjoyed the re-read, though I disliked Sean Connell a lot more than I did the last time), and skimmed straight through Dragonsong and Dragonsinger last night (OMG THE TEEN ANGST OMG).

4a. This was because I'd managed Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern not that long ago, and didn't hate it. Which is possibly faint praise, as it hit many of my kinks like WORLDWIDE EPIDEMICS and people desperately running against the clock to saaaaave everyone and Moreta basically pwning everyone's balls.

Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp as buddy cops? Sign me up. (even more awesome is that, like, Jones and a friend came up with the idea of the show down the pub)
spoilers for series one )
