lyssie: (Dee eddies in the dust)
1. Work is gearing up for back to office stuff - splitting us into three groups, we work one week on, two weeks off. This keeps us distanced from each other. I don't really care either way, so I'm going to just leave it up to what my manager thinks is best (it's voluntary, which was stressed multiple times). I'm orange.

2. Watched a bunch of random crap this week including Motive, and rediscovered how hot I find Kristin Lehman. Also, I just... the show gave me Angie and Betty, who are bffs, and I miss them. I do not miss season three's stupid conspiracy bullshit. It's a pity the series was never released on dvd, at least three episodes (the ones with Niall Matter and Erica Cerra, BAH) got corrupted. I also just... I don't even know how to put it, but I really love how Angie and Oscar Vega felt like real people, and also, Angie's face. There have been screenshots taken.

3. I caught up on Midsomer Murders. I like the new ME, Fleur, a woman after my own heart (someone gives her a dollhouse in one episode, and she recreates murders scenes in the room! <3). I also miss Kam, though. But I do still like Winter, even if his s21 haircut was awful (dude, whoever told you that was a good look LIED).

4. Watched a bunch of Jonathan Creek, and I love Maddie as always. I like Carla Borego, too, even if it feels like the writers treated her horribly (I feel they were working out their anger at women on the poor woman :/). Joey, as always, I love. And I missed this the first couple times watching, but in Joey's last episode, she and Polly basically take the mickey out of Jonathan in their last scene and it is amazing and I love them both.

Srsly, yo. The response to multiple people replying to all to request being taken off the list of people receiving notifications is.... NOT TO REPLY TO ALL.

Holy shit, folks.

It was Reply To All Day over the weekend to the tune of five hundred useless emails in my inbox at work.

To be fair. The macros towards the end of today were entertaining.

(but, srsly, how can anyone in IT Security be surprised our employees fall for phishing emails?)

And a second to be fair: a bunch of the extraneous emails were the automatic ticket creation server notifying everyone of the helpdesk tickets being created.

Otoh, where the fuck did February go? I am so god-damned behind on everything.

I have seen Deadpool and enjoyed the hell out of it (if you're a fan of taking the piss out of the superhero genre, this is probably for you). Not to mention, I had no idea Morena Baccarin was in it, but she is, and she was excellent. And Ryan Reynolds is a month younger than me and also amazing. (seriously, I had no idea anyone could actually do Wade justice, and yet, there's Ryan Reynolds.)

There were trailers for Civil War and DC's big Event Movie, and neither were particularly interesting (I was disappointed we didn't get a third helping of "WE are here to save a world that hates and fears us!" when they neglected to show the X-Men: AoA trailer).

Srsly. So many penises. So many dull speeches. So uninterested.

At least I have, um....

Um.

idek.

Motive is back soon? I think? (I'll be over here, watching Kristin Lehman be entertaining, ok)
lyssie: (Jo Grant is gorgeous)
1. I do exist, I do. (I find this hilarious because I was babbling in someone else's comments and now my brain can't think of anything to babble about)

2. [livejournal.com profile] femslash100 drabble-tag is happening! I should, like, write something. so I can request Jo Grant/Clara Oswald fic (Jo/Polly is also my go-to because Jo = Bond and Polly = her Bond girl)
cut for length, since I rambled )
lyssie: (I am Jack Harkness's surprised look)
1. I am officially hired. This has meant I've spent the last two weeks getting another person's work and trying to square it away and I sort of abandoned everything but reading bad novels and awful fanfic.

2. This does, in fact, mean that while I surfaced at one point, I haven't actually read my flist in... almost a month? I think? I don't even know. I could probably try tracking my last comment. (which means, give me all the fic and stuff, because I wants it)

3. It does not, however, mean that I am unaware that MOTIVE IS BACK AND ANGIE AND BETTY ARE STILL THE BEST OMG. um. It is the only thing I'm keeping up on (even if I'm two weeks behind as of tonight). Still. Angie and Oscar and Betty are back! EEEEeeee! (and there was the BEST SCENE EVER in 3x1 involving alcohol in the morgue). Also, it continues to delight in Vancouver actors that have been in EVERYTHING ELSE EVER. Also, Ally Sheedy.

4. I managed to go four months without watching Last Christmas. Not for any specific reason? I don't know why. I just didn't. But I watched it night before last and it was charming (and perhaps I will have more to say at some point after I rip all of season 8 as audio and listen over and over and over and my brain melts. but whatever). Mostly, I want all the Shona fic.

5. I... don't think there's anything else going on in my life right now? Oh. I know. I'm really digging Versant's little LP or whatever they call those these days. Out of Touch is probably my favorite track.
lyssie: (Sikozu says boom)
Well, it is. And Angie continues to delight and amuse me, though I feel they toned her down this season a little (sadly).

Otoh, we have had more of Doctor Betty <3

And also Niall Matter and Erica Serra have now guest-starred. As murderers (as you do, with those two. It's just a pity they weren't in the same episode--my continued amusement at Jo and Zane going on murder and gambling sprees needs more fuel to the fire).

(ps, that's not a spoiler, the show tells you who the murderer is in the first thirty seconds)

Ok, now I'm being mildly spoilery.

Basically, I still enjoy this show and since it and Person of Interest are the only two things I'm managing to watch weekly (Elementary is my binge show), I'm not sure what that says about me.

(though you guys, you guys, they totally just did the PoI High School Reunion episode and it was glorious, but not as good as Bounty. I mean. Nothing can top Vala Mal Doran. Ever.

All right, but also, you know that gif of Hanna from Pretty Little Liars, when she's all "EEEE! YAY!"? That is MY FACE WHEN I WATCH POI A LOT. sigh. pls don't destroy me, show.)

um. that digressed. oops.
lyssie: (Claudia doubts your commitment)
1. I have yet to see 1x9 and 1x10 of Orphan Black. I am... possibly holding off in hopes that it won't end? idk. Whatever, though, I'm avoiding any and ALL spoilers. (I managed to snag one when copying the episode title last week for the episode discussion post and made :/ faces at myself)

2. Wiscon. I totally owe some sort of post on that.

3. Motive's season is over (but it's airing in America now on ABC--if you caught the first episode, please be aware that it is awful. Episode five is the best and if you don't femslash Angie and Dr. Betty, idk what's wrong with you). And the final episode had surprise!Amanda Tapping, amongst other things. (ok, also, Canadian Actor Bingo was rampant, thanks to Vancouver)

4. I still cannot believe they canceled the Primeval spin-off. It was silly, but entertaining. Sigh.

5. Having to work at corporate is wearing my the fuck down. I cannot stand the two posers who are in charge of me. ugh.
lyssie: (Anders sweet)
I am still not used to this whole "Doctor Who is on Saturdays" thing. I don't know why--maybe because it's so early? I remember when it was on at 10pm at night. I liked 10pm as an airing time.

Doctor Who 7x11 'Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS'

I find myself with little to say about this episode. I liked parts of it, but I felt it was a real cop-out to have the ending unravel the history that came before it.

I also wonder if this could be considered to be the origin of the TARDIS exploding in Big Bang.

The episode suffered from not having more Esher in it--like, there's a poster, with stairways all over the place, so I was looking forward to the Labyrinth in the TARDIS and... nothing. Sigh.

Then there's the 'creatures'. Why were they trying to kill them/chase them? That made no sense whatsoever. They added pretty much nothing to the whole episode, except to put in pointless "chase the companion/make her scream" shit.

ALSO. The LIBRARY. I would like it, and I'm sort of intensely pissed-off that we will never see it again and Clara doesn't even know she was there.

Orphan Black 1x5 'Conditions of Existence'

I am so confused and terrified and thrilled about this show.

Every week there's a new facet to this whole thing, and now I'm wondering if there's more than one faction--who is running Helena, and are they linked to the people taking EEGs of Beth/Sarah?

Also, as much of a straight-laced annoyance as she is, I sort of love Alison and her reaction to everything. She's almost the normal one, caught in this world of ridiculousness. Keeping it together the way she is is, well, impressive. Even if her husband is watching her the way Paul was watching Beth (and why are they watching them all?)

Is this some sort of extended social experiment in seeing their reactions and coping mechanisms when faced with increasing levels of bullshit, fucked-upedness and paranoia?

Also, Beth just kills me. She's dead and so much of what's happening is being affected by her death and the things she learned in life. The repercussions of her discovering Paul's perfidy are just beautiful.

Further, and I've said this before, I love how it's Sarah and Alison and Cosima, and their relationships and lives that are driving this show. The mystery is underlying everything, but it's their interaction with it that brings it to life. In a lot of other shows, we'd be subjected to Paul and the other dude having conversations all the time, we'd follow Alison's husband in some significant fashion -- THEY would be the point of view characters.

Everyone else is just hangers-on.

Ok, except Felix. <3

(also, Cosima now has a girlfriend, I can't believe I was right in assuming she was a lesbian)

and oh god, I just thought of this: did Mrs. S steal Sarah from them/hide her away? Because her reaction to Sarah's questions was to lie through her teeth. She knows SOMETHING, though I'm not sure what. Unless she's watching over Kira because the clones aren't supposed to be biologically viable--Alison thought Kira was adopted, but she's not.

(and holy shit am I glad that asshole Vic isn't the Kira's father. I am SO with Alison on that)

This whole waiting between weeks is going to kill me, eventually.

Motive 1x10. 'Fallen Angel'. A solid episode, though I sort of got bored at parts. Maybe not enough Angie snark? idek. Also, Dr. Betty in her heels, unf. (also, two women discussing the cause of death/science should not be hot, and yet, I just want them to finish talking about the corpse and then go make out in a closet or something.)
lyssie: (Default)
1. It is Tuesday. Can it be Friday now? I am exhausted after two days of work.

2. I'm re-reading Anne of the Island, and there's letter from Davy wherein he mentions someone going to the 'silem' because said person thinks they have a snake inside of them. My immediate reaction was to ponder Stargate fusions. *embarrassed*

3. I have watched Doctor Who (Hide), and I really liked it, I just don't feel like I have anything to say. (ok, other than that I really do think the episodes are too short. I feel like only a third of any given story gets told, and I find it frustrating)

4. I probably have more thoughts on Orphan Black.

5. Motive needs to come back off hiatus, I am watching 200 Cigarettes and pretending Lucy is Angie. This is sad.

6. I want a multi-era (starting with One) Doctor Who fanvid to Adam Lambert's 'For Your Entertainment' focusing on the mental and physical toll of traveling with the Doctor. Because I'm sick like that.
lyssie: (Default)
Motive 1x9: SURPRISE ALESSANDRO JULIANI. Otherwise, a solid episode. (Angiiiieeee. sigh. she is hot and amazing)

Elementary 1x19: Read more... )

Person of Interest 2x19: Read more... )

Scott & Bailey 3x1: Read more... )
lyssie: (Jenna princess)
1. Yesterday was new Who day, but I also watched all the things and stuff. Now I've got nothing left to do, so I feel at loose ends (I even did laundry last weekend, so that's sorted)

2. I dreamt in Ponds, weeping Angels, River Song, the Motive detectives (searching for/investigating missing Ponds), Clara, Eleven, and shenanigans.

3. Orphan Black started last night, and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to next week, as it hits a lot of my buttons. I really like the lead, plus, canon gay.

4. I'm really enjoying Motive, too. ANGIE FLYNN FOREVER. Also, Oscar is entertaining and Dr. Betty is hot. Also also, Angie and Betty are totally having it off, or did once and now they're just good friends.

5. I'm current on Beauty and the Beast, and while I think of things to talk about while watching, afterwards I... don't remember them. I will say that I'm glad Cat/Vincent wasn't dragged out for a billion seasons, but I also don't ship it or find it all that interesting. It doesn't help that they keep having basically the same damn conversation every. single. episode. Not to mention twice in one of the episodes. And TESS. sigh. Meanwhile, Sendhil Ramamurthy showed up shirtless as a new player. Fun.

6. I know I have Bomb Girls, Lost Girl and Scandal to catch up on, but I just... Idk. Not in the mood I guess.

7. I watched the first episode of Red Widow, but didn't finish it. I'm sort of getting tired of female characters who are too stupid to know about the financial details of their lives. This is fucking 2013, for fuck's sake. Also, getting tired of "woman is shallow and can't do anything, has to learn business from the ground up" storylines. (and unsurprisingly, Jaime Ray Newman is her sister. So, no femslash potential)

8. Deception sounds interesting, but hit my embarrassment squick bigtime, so I couldn't even get more than twenty minutes in before stopping.

9. I tried to watch Revolution, and just. the premise is just too stupid. I couldn't stand it, and none of the characters were interesting enough in twenty minutes to make me want to continue watching it (contrast it with Motive where I was hooked by Angie and Oscar and Betty, even though the first episode is not that great. Or Beauty and the Beast which is silly, but compelling).
