lyssie: (black air pwns torchwood)
1. Peter Angehlides' Pack Animals is one of the better Torchwood novels. (what? I like things like naked invisible Ianto). It was very team-y and ridiculous, but at the same time serious. Also. Tosh was awesome.

2. Unpopular fandom opinion time: I'm beginning to not be interested in leading men. Eureka's Jack Carter? SG-1's Jack O'Neill? Torchwood's Jack Harkness? ...ok, maybe it's that men named Jack are boring me. *considers* I don't--ok, all I do know is Harkness bored me the last three episodes of series two, Carter keeps getting in the way of me enjoying the other people of Eureka (including his sister), and O'Neill kept popping up in season 3 Atlantis and making me fast forward...

3. I had to put Brisco County, JR on my netflix list. Mmm. Cracky western steampunk.

4. Warehouse 13. We remembered to watch an episode. Pete and Myka are still annoying enough to want them to not be on-screen. Like Claudia, like Artie, miss Amanda Waller. I did like that the end of the episode with the old agent was very sort of Torchwood (perhaps it was the lighting?) in feel.

5. Am a wee bit disturbed I could think up 27 different things to put on a BSG Genderfail Argument Bingo Card.

6. I still love this icon, and it is still so very true. (Black Air released a demon upon London on purpose, you know. Torchwood ain't got nothin')

I had a few dupes, apparently, and one that made no sense after sleeping. So there are 24, with the free square.

List behind the cut.

If you can think of more, I can edit/add/change. Most of these are things I've seen people say over the last few years, usually in response to "that was sort of hinky, gender-wise" or something to that effect.

2. In other news, the boys at Bridge are stealing from Dollhouse. Rape is so awesome. =D (link found courtesy [livejournal.com profile] havocthecat) eta: I suppose I should put a spoiler warning for Stargate: 90210 on that.
lyssie: (Meggan is awesome)
I'm just... man. This book was so awesome, and now it's over and done with. There were people who were characters first and genders second, but also with their own personalities and bits and pieces. There were silly plotlines and things of magic and derring-do. There was the reclamation of Meggan.

There was Dracula trying to take over Britain and Doom being adorable.

There was a team that worked well together, with wit and grooviness.

And they are all put back in the box at Marvel. The friendships, romances, bits and pieces of their lives that were in this book will be ignored by the next person to write them, I'm sure. Not that many will write people like Brian, Meggan, Lady Jac or Alistaire Stuart. Wisdom and Blade will certainly have their day elsewhere, and the Avengers can always use the Black Knight again.

But Faiza and her family will be forgotten quickly, such is the way of bit characters who aren't mighty heroes or damsels in distress.

It's just as well Kitty Pryde is still dead stuck in a bullet in the middle of space, traveling away from the planet Earth. Wisdom's having wine with other women.
