lyssie: (Jo McDonagh obsession)
So, I hadn't actually been aware that a new series was in production. I found out when the first episode dropped on thevault, and was gleefully surprised. I love Bletchley Circle, and while I miss the other three women (ok, Hattie because she's hot, shut it), Millie and Jean are both of my favorites, as well.

While I downloaded it, I never got round to watching it. I purchased the DVDs, since I tend to buy things when I want more things like them (I was buying DeConnick's Captain Marvel run despite not really clicking with it, and Miss Marvel, too, though I liked that a bit better--I want more women writing comics!)

Er. ANYWAY.

As I was packing for Christmas this year, I shoved BC: SF in my things, as mom liked the first two series, too.

This was an excellent plan, as she hadn't seen it, either.

I dreamt in work, The Pretender, and The Bletchley Circle. I'm not sure whether my dreams were amazing or not. But they were odd.

I would like more of The Bletchley Circle (it's only three episodes, that is a terrible crime).

And while I'm asking for the impossible, I would like a Leverage/The Pretender crossover where it comes out that Parker was created in a test tube with Jarod and Miss Parker's genes, and then Archie stole her from the Centre.

Also, holy crap, but Millie/Susan hits all of my angst and longing kinks.

(Excuse me while I have a staring contest with the cat. She's being fractious)
lyssie: (Betty and Gladys are now BFFs lol)
If someone had come up to me and said "we're gonna make a tv show about women code-breakers after the war, trying to fit back in and ending up solving murders", my response would have been "that sounds amazing, but no company will ever produce something like that. Not enough dudes doing shit."

Luckily for me, I would have been wrong. ITV produced it, and the first episode was quite smashing (despite the occasional bits of "rly, did we need that?" male-gazey murderer/victim).

The show does a good job capturing the flavor of the era, and the intelligence of the women. Now here's hoping the second episode is good.

(ps, Rachael Stirling is in it)
