the things you read...
Dec. 14th, 2008 12:39 pm1. I was poking fanficrants last night, out of boredom. And someone was wondering why there's no Jewel in the Crown fic, specifically Kumar/Merrick. And. Dude. I don't know, maybe because Merrick canonically tortured Kumar? And not in the fun, oily, "I will slap you around" way. No. He was stripped, chained, and then whipped. Somehow, I don't think Hari is going to be all, "I love you, man" about that.
2. I re-read the Black Widow LSes last week. Damn, that was good shit. Also, there are threads dangling that I wonder if the author intended to use for a third LS. Pity it's never happened. Marvel would do well to devote a book to a woman. But they'd never do that, they'd rather cancel female-oriented titles and slot women back into the role of housewife, girlfriend and vixen.
3. The Torchwood novel 'Skypoint' was possibly the most fun thing I've read in a while. Spot-on characterization, completely random plot, and action that made me giggle like a fiend. I was quite in love with it. I'm not looking forward to trying to read 'Pack Animals', though. And I've given up on reading 'Border Princes' as I've seen 'Adam' and a retread is simply pointless. (I highly recommend 'Skypoint', btw. It is like crack!fanfic)
