This is sort of Bex's fault. Mostly my own.
I couldn't sleep for much of the night, so instead, my brain detailed all the parallels between Blake's 7 and LotR.
There are MANY permutations it can take.
For instance, Travis is Saruman. Good guy who suddenly betrays trust and is a bad guy. Consider the episode 'Voice From the Past'. Shevan is the good guy. Travis is pretending to be him.
Incidentally, the amusing factor of that makes Blake Gandalf, since Saruman and Shevan both betray Gandalf and Blake. Further, Blake 'dies' at one point, but later comes back changed.
This leaves Frodo up for grabs, and, naturally, this is a tough decision. For, there really aren't that many who you can make be the innocent, burden-bearing goodie-two-shoes. Since this is the case, I decided to make Jenna Frodo, since both are sort of naive at times.
Following that logic, Gan is the perfect Sam. He'll promise Blake to keep her safe. And he'll do it, too.
Pippin is Vila. This should make a lot of sense, since Pippin was the more befuddled of the two. Vila is *smart* but rarely displays this. Both have a tendency to make bad jokes.
That leaves Merry open for grabs, and it really ends up going to Tarrant.
Legolas was easy. Dayna Mellenby, she of the bow and arrows--and her appreciation for knives...
Amusingly enough, this makes Soolin Gimli. Though she prefers guns to axes. Dayna and Soolin never actually argue that I recall, but they are both fans of shooting things.
Cackling madly, I decided Avon is the perfect Aragorn. Both are reluctant to take mantles of responsibility--Aragorn, his throne; Avon, the scourge of the Federation. Both have difficult love lives. And, both take over. Aragorn from Gandalf, and Avon from Blake.
This makes Anna Grant Arwen of course, and the amusement factor is very high. (it also makes Del Grant Glorfindel, iirc.... *snicker*)
It also, very sadly, makes Cally Boromir. All those slashy overtones in the movie suddenly take on a whole new meaning, as Cally/Avon 'shippers roar loudly. And they both die. *sniffle* There's also the Cally/Avon conflicts, and the Boromir/Aragorn arguments.
Erk. I'm going to have to stop for now. Must get dressed for the job I got assigned.
