Don't answer that.
Anyway, the internet router needed to power cycle yesterday morning, and I was lazy, so I just didn't bother doing it since there was offline stuff I was working on for work. And then when I power cycled the router/modem, my work laptop was like "I do not know what a Wireless Network is." And the Troubleshooting came back with "Everything's good! =D"
On Day 3 of Month End close.
So I try to normal fixes, I turn my laptop off, I reboot, I troubleshoot again. Then I try the last resort: disable and re-enable the Wireless Adapter.
Except I can't. IT in all its wisdom has locked this and required an admin password.
It's a good thing I'm a pack-rat. There was a 20-foot ethernet cable down in ye olde basement storage. And I discovered how much I do not like being in the dining room to work (way too bright, for one thing).
So I spent yesterday, and most of today, toiling away in the dining room without my comfy desk area.
I had to call IT. They opened a ticket. Having managed most of the day without really hating it, I told them it was a normal/low level ticket, as it wasn't impairing my ability to work. It was just annoying as fuck.
IT contacted me back this afternoon, got me an admin password, disabled and then re-enabled the wireless adapter.
My work laptop is now fixed.
This has been the most exciting thing to happen to me in weeks, outside of the Total Wine and Liquor opening at Bayshore (I have been. I bought booze)
