So, my one disappointment in the Phryne Fisher tv show is that Mac (the lady doctor) has appeared only in one episode, and I've the suspicion she'll not return.
My disappointment is because the only other option for femslash is between Phryne and Dot, and that's a deeply imbalanced relationship, what with Dot being her employee and depending upon her for a living. And I really hate that sort of imbalance. I prefer them to be equals, or at least not master/servant. :/
Which means that, yes, some of my enjoyment in the series has dimmed. It's still entertaining, and I'm hopeful that if it does well, we'll start to get more tv shows with lady detectives (set in historical times).
If nothing else, it has made me want to re-watch the Mrs. Bradley mysteries. (Diana Rigg, how are you so awesome?)
And also construct elaborate crossover fantasies wherein a younger Miss Marple visits Melbourne (as the more recent adaptions have alluded to her as somewhat youthful during the 20s), and she and Phryne argue over investigative methods and there's femslashyness everywhere.
