Blue Murder, s5

The series picks up a few years after the previous, as Janine's kids are now a little older. Michael's out of uni, even. *amused*
Sadly, Lisa Goodall is gone, but that's all right, Kat Skerton has replaced her and she's just as fabulous. (and gives me the urge to write Lisa/Kat, to be honest--yes I know they were never on screen together) Skerton's a different sort of fabulous (they jokingly call her Robocop) (Goodall reminded me of Lois Habiba. Skerton reminds me of Ziva David)
Also, Butchers mercilessly mocks Shap lots. <3 Butchers.
AND. AND there's an episode where they all get kitted up for a dinner thing and then get called to the scene of a murder in tuxes and heels. <3 <3 <3 <3 (Skerton is adorable in her pinky-red-leather jacket and fabulous dress)
As before, the cases are fairly standard, though Private Lives has a nice take on domestic violence, and Janine's home life sometimes bleeds through to her professional life (Private Lives, again, has some stand-out emotional work--not surprising, as it's a double-length episode and they had more time for the exploration)
Oh, and also, series five has opening titles with theme music! Very disconcerting, I must say. =D
