trips down memory lane
Mar. 4th, 2008 07:04 amFor some reason last night, I randomly opened a bunch of old files containing bits and pieces of Marya stuff. One of them is Buffy-verse-related and 25000 words long. There's even vague plot involved, not to mention, at one point, a huge cast of characters. I always was into overkill.
Re-reading, though, I learned a few things.
1. Man, I loved the torturey emotional angst. I also loved making people admit they loved and/or cared about each other.
2. I hated Riley. If I were ever releasing this into the wild, I'd have to go and fix some of it, since Riley is badly ooc. I was hanging around with Lynxie at the time, and she hated him, so I expect that's part of it.
3. My women were all bitchy. And mean. I miss being able to write that. And they killed people and didn't care. Also, even back then, I was sarcastic about boys and men and constantly letting the women be as awesome as they needed to be.
4. Speaking of 1, though, I think Marya's Angst is half the reason I hate Kara's.
5. I kept bringing people back from the dead.
In other news, there still isn't enough interest in a Kara Thrace drabble thing. I was kind of expecting it, given the size of BSG. After all, BSG isn't like the SGs where one person could be killed and there are a hundred roaches in the walls--
That analogy didn't work out so well.
But it is true. In bsg fandom, one person = one person. There's not so much of the silent and vast majority.
Also, there's a poor showing from people not on my flist. Is this a political thing? The Kara/Lee shippers don't want to be involved with me? Of course, then I have to remind myself that they don't do things like the porn battle, either. So maybe they just don't actually like Kara all that much.
