More read-along.
Jun. 22nd, 2006 12:26 amomg.
So, so, I was reading a little more, and it's Adama in a shuttle doing the "I'm giving backstory" stuff. And his daughter, Athena, is piloting.
And, and, he has this long paragraph about how his wife is all womanly and shit, and their Love Is Forever Wonderful and stuff.
And the very next paragraph, he thinks about how his daughter is basically the female version of himself, and how he can't understand how men would be attracted to her.
Not to mention that, a few paragraphs before, his daughter had mock-pouted. As all female, intelligent, capable, shuttle pilots do.
WTF?
Yes, because, obviously, his wife (good little, stay-at-home woman that she is) is the epitome of woman-ness. But his daughter, who is just like him, will never get a man.
*headdesk*
And people wonder why the original was considered sexist.
ETA: ALSO. MaleStarbuck is kind of lame. He gets beaten at cards, and ineffectually is, like, "hey, rematch?" and then the guys run off, and he's whiny. "omg, wait."
Whereas, if they'd run off on Kara, she'd haul off and punch one, then tackle the other to the deck.
