Irish cream, beef sticks, and snow...
Jan. 26th, 2004 08:15 pmY'know, it's like pulling teeth to get my mother to send me recipes. It can't be that hard, can it? She simply has to open the recipe book, type in the ingredients list (and quantities) and send it. I know all of the rest. Generally.
I want to make quiche, god-damnit.
Shoveled snow. Needed some sort of physical excercise, so did the street, too.
Until Cally and I started arguing out loud about the beginning of the story I'm writing. Actually, we were arguing until I snapped, "I could have you fucking Vila, so shut up already."
She didn't of course, but Chiana looked intrigued.
Sigh.
Chiana, btw, is the universe's slutpuppy. Worse than Gambit, I swear. (that was sarcasm, folks. I've always been vocal that Remy is not a slutpuppy. ;)
In action figure news, I picked up another John Crichton figure. This one came in the black pants and t-shirt, with the horrible wedding robe he wore in Look at the Princess. So now I have a MoyaJohn (in the black, damnit, 'cause he's more insane) and a TalynJohn (in beige. Whishywashy man)...
Can anyone tell I prefer MoyaJohn? ;)
My brain is slowly melting under a steady diet of Farscape, Blake's 7, Doctor Who, conversations with my roommates, and the amounts of coffee we drink.
Hrm. Speaking of. I'm out.

The world is my oyster...
Jan. 26th, 2004 09:22 pmSo. I've been sitting here, thinking absently. And I finally figured something out. I know why the idea last year (or the year before. Don't remember when it was) to basically wipe out the entire canon of the Subreality Cafe/Subreality on the SCMailing List bothered me so much.
And it did, I just never voiced it except in occasional snide comments to myself.
It bothers me because canon is a good thing.
This is why I cringe and moan and mock every time I hear about some new stupidity done at Marvel. (The Phoenix is not a cosmic force, for instance.... Yeah. Go away.) Because history is a good thing, and if you can't remember it, use it properly, and snuggle it...
You're an idiot.
But, wait, I hear people whine, 30 years/25 years/40 years of continuity is too HARD to remember! *whimper*
Yes, right.
So are a hundred thousand baseball stats.
You don't see the sports fans complaining, do you?
And comics/subreality/tv continuity is much more interesting, entertaining, and fun.
And I like Subreality's history. Ok, so it's been a long time since I've been involved with it, but I remember a few of the basics.
And without that memory, you get a lot of repetitious plots in Round Robins... Oh, god, do you ever...
Er. But that could simply be my own pet peeve.
In other news, despite evidence to the contrary, I am *not* writing a Farscape/Blake's 7 crossover.
Because it would end up the length of the entire Lord of the Rings. And I really don't have time for that. Really.
