Ruminations...
Jun. 21st, 2003 11:49 amWith the Hoedown fast approaching, and my chosen fictive ending up being John Crichton (he's on my brain a hell of a lot, and, given the fact that there's generally more women in RRs than men....), I figured I'd sit and talk for a bit. Ramble, even.
Y'see, I don't have SciFi channel. So I never saw Farscape when other people did, and, for a long time, I didn't even know much about it.
Epona was the first one to introduce me. At BodiceCon, we watched "Crackers Don't Matter". I thought it was amusing, but I couldn't get all of the nuances having not seen any other episodes.
But I knew I could like it. I just never made the effort to attempt to get copies, or dvds...
Last year at Dragon*Con, Allie showed me some more. The premiere ep and "I, ET". It wasn't bad, but it still wasn't really grabbing my attention.
Before she left in February, I visited Shai, and watched a few more episodes. "Back and Back and Back to the Future" and "Thank God It's Friday, Again". I liked it. It was droll and amusing, and John Crichton was... beginning to grow on me like mold.
And then Drake kindly taped the marathon for me...actually, this may have come before Shai. Hrm.
So I watched the fourth season opener, "Crichton Kicks", and was intrigued by the changes in these people. "What Was Lost" was even more of the same...
But there's this one scene in WWL. John's come out of Grayza's pit of horror and is confronted by Braca, and half a dozen PK's. And, he stands there in his leather pants (...M.mm...) and says, hand straying to rub his ass, "Hey, Braca. Lemme ask you a question, you're a man of the world, right? Does my ass look big in these pants?"
He then pulled his weapon from its holster and fired.
But, that, ladies and gentlemen is where yours truly fully fell in love with John Crichton. He was *insane* and not above laughing at himself. And, good god, he looks good in leather.
And now? I've seen the entirety of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th seasons. I'm working my way through 3, but I'm only up to "Losing Time". Bastards need to get their dvds out faster, damnit! Screw the commentary! I want more John!
And now, I'm distracted and shall wander off...
