I keep thinking of doing Mitai's fic challenge idea. Except that it's sort of difficult. Most of what I wrote five years ago.... isn't that different from more recent things. I mean, I know my style has changed (I've watched it do so), but it's not something I can immediately pinpoint.

Kossie did it, somewhat. I write like her, at times (the Susan/Dave stuff in the dj is proof of this. So was most of Trying to Fly). Other influences were just... what I was reading at the time. Or listening to.

Or just me going back and ripping something totally to shreds.

Which, I think, is to be noted. I have story files on my hard drive. Some are... five years old. SCW, for example, although the current version probably is only 3. But the original, which may actually be on my old geocrappies site, is 5.

But. My point. If I had one. Is that most of what I write takes time. Years, sometimes. Days, others. Minutes... Some of my best work has taken me mere hours. Some of my worst has taken me eons. (SCW, again...)

Random Orcs has taken me a year and a month, so far. And I thought, when I began, that it would merely take a month. Or two. But that stretched to six, then nine... Then suddenly, TTT was out. And I hadn't made my own deadline. It's sad, really.

On a side note, my nine inch tall (maybe he's 12?) Matrix is currently holding the foot end of a dismembered Barbie leg. I find this amusing. Almost as amusing as the My Little Pony crouched at his feet, looking rather cutely up at him. She's pink. He's not. He really needs an Andraia.

In other news, I can't believe how much I came to rely on having a car. NOT having one has driven me nearly insane. Luckily, mom is being wonderful. And we're going car-hunting this weekend. Maybe I'll even get a car. Used, of course. But. Transportation, baby! Yeah!

Hrm. I should go to bed soon. Night!
