So, some of you may remember the really odd thing with my hard drive continually filling up for no apparent reason. If not, suffice to say, it's over 6 gigs, but there was less and less of it.

Today, when it said 38 MB left, I sighed, and opened the disk cleaner thingie. Inspecting the list of programs, I decided on Prodigy's Instant Messenger, since we don't use it. Ever.

It uninstalled and deleted.

And this little message popped up saying how I'd just cleared 5483 MB (I believe that was the number, iirc). Flabbergasted, I pulled open Explorer. And stared.

For, 'lo, from 38MB I'd gone to 5.22gigs. free.

I wish I were making it up. I wish it hadn't taken this long to find out what the problem was.

The way mom and I figure it, PIM was popping up onscreen every time you rebooted, and it was *copying itself* There must have been thousands of it in that folder.

Either that, or something in there was not supposed to be there.

*shrug*

I have a happy computer now.

Brownie, the cat who got himself in a fight last week, has been doing better. One of the things I'd noticed, though, was this ridge. I assumed it was inflamed lymph node.

Nope.

Today, I wake up, and he either bit it open himself, scraped it open, or had help. Apparently, it was an abcess.

He had an appointment at the vet's so they shaved him more there.

Heh. He's been all happy bouncy, too. Silly cat.

I sleep.

I don't think I've mentioned this. If I have, I've totally forgotten.

My mother and her friend wrote Real People fanfiction, back in high school.

I came to this shocking realisation while cleaning out the books last weekend. One of them was a bound copy of Mimi's Thirteen Steps to Tich. And in it was a little footnote about how she and my mother used to write these things called 'thinks'. And they were stories about the Beatles, or the Bee Gees, or people they knew at school...

And, suddenly, it all comes clear. I have fanfiction in my genes.

Filking, too. Dad used to write lyrics--still does, on occassion. And during Kat's wedding, he added in a verse to Fields of Gold that fit beautifully.

I was doomed from the start. ;)
