Hrm.

I remember discussions about how dry and boring Tolkien is. I'm wondering if I should differ with people who say that.

The reason?

I have found Fellowship of the Ring exceedingly easy to get into, and difficult to put down.

Hell, I went to bed last night, then got back up to read the last two chapters before Rivendell.

Mmm. Water blasting the Nazgul downriver. Gooood water.

I might know what's going to happen, but it's still fun to watch.

Of course, the book goes into a terrible amount of detail at times--stuff about the politics that were NOT even mentioned in the movie. Which is sad, but it would have added another hour.

I can even see places where they could have expanded things--that would have added still yet another hour. *g*

I would have liked a nine-hour movie, but 3 is good, too.

I'm saddened to see the places they changed to make it more explosion-y and grab the attention of the mass market. Yes, there are fight scenes. But they don't always happen where they did in the movie.

Although Gandalf's stand on the bridge of Khazad-Dum is shot for shot. Nice.

And I still can't get something my friend Tricia said from my head, now. Gandalf, falling, "Run my bitches, run!"

*snicker* She's a bad influence.

In bits and pieces of FotR, I'm catching glimpses of what must be the Silmarillon (sp?). Now I'm tempted to read those, too. But, I'll finish this trio first. And maybe start the Hobbit, at some point again.

Maybe I'll even finish the Subreality Hobbit story I'd been working on.

Bed soon, I think. Must finish eating, then stagger off.

Oh. And my typing speed is now 84 wpm. Hee.
