Soooooo..... Bevcon.
May. 20th, 2001 04:58 pmFinally. Time to sit and rationally write it all down.
But first, a small rant.
#$^%^*#^&*^&*(^&*(. I thought I had to work today. I *did* have to work today. Except, the new girl, decided SHE wanted to work today. Nice of her to tell me this BEFORE I left for Omaha. It would have been even nicer if my parents could have called me and LET ME KNOW she'd called and said she could work today on Friday. Friday. I could have called her and told her to work.
I could have fucking stayed in Omaha another entire day.
Yeesh.
Rant over.
On my way to Omaha, I passed a lot of road construction--on the other side of the road. Luckily, it was all closed down today.
Anyway. I also saw other things. Like towns called Bachelor, and Amazonia....
On to Omaha.
Got into town early enough that Bevy and I hit WalMart for those all-important black tshirts and more fabric paints. This time, the glow in the dark type. MWaha. Came back, and I started the shirts sitting on Bev's floor.
*chuckle* Sam barked and barked at me for the entire first day. By Friday, he only barked when I came back in the house. Sort of a warning, "I know you're not supposed to be here" bark.
Shirt fronts splattered and lined and brushed out, we went to bed.
Well, first we did a lot of madlibs, talked to people online, and basically stayed up too late.
Got up the next morning around noon (Yay! Sleep!). Called Kym. Waited for Andrew to call. He didn't, so we headed off to grab some Chinese food for breakfast.
Got back ten minutes after Drew called. Waited for him to call back. Finally, he came over around 4:30.
Headed off to one of the comic shops, Drew giving directions.
I got the one Excal I needed before Raab's run. And something else, don't remember what. But, hey, I didn't spend much. *I* was waiting for the 19 cent bins.
Headed to the Bohemian. Drew proceeded to help Bev get us lost, then we drove over to Council Bluffs. Hey, there should have been an open offramp on our side of the river. Then we got lost in Council Bluffs. As Bev says, we were laughing the whole time...
Got directions back to Omaha and hit the Bohemian, having lost only 15 minutes.
At this point, I had fajitas left over from Chile's the night before, and Chinese left over from the afternoon. To that haul, I added fried chicken, fries and wax beans. Sigh. I have lunch for a week.
Headed to the Old Market, where we met Kym. Now, I have a wierd habit of deciding who people look like. Kym looks like a cross between Shai and Tapestry.
I found salvation in Homer's, the record store there. I spent 40 bucks and saved something like 50, if my calculations are correct. ;)
After Homer's, we wandered a bit, then convinced Kym that 19 cent bins are fun.
Oh. And there was some statue molesting in there, too.
See? Con traditions are being carried on. Getting lost: check. Statue molestation: check.
I snapped Bev's pic a few times, too. ;)
Oh. The cds I got? Grabbed KLF's "The White Room"; the import Bjork "Army of Me" single; Luscious Jackson "Ladyfingers"; James "I Know What I'm Here For"; Eurythmics "I Saved the World Today"; some Echo and the Bunnymen, Electronic... And Poe's "Haunted"...
muuuuuusiiiic...
At the comic store, we took almost an hour to scour the boxes of cheap comics. Which was nice, even if I ended up with only about five of the ones I'd been looking for... And 24 that I didn't really need, but looked cool. Sigh.
I am such a sucker.
Village Inn for pie was the next stop. I remember getting pie from the VI in Florida... Mom and dad would go on a date and bring us a pie. Or, we'd all go down there and have slices... See, we don't all like the same thing. About the only one I like is French Silk.
Sigh.
Arrived at Bev's, and proceeded to spend several hours laughing and creating really bad MadLibs...
I got some quotes, too. Must dig them up and post later...
I do remember one MadLib quote, though.
"I rolled my scrotums and went up to Jeremy Northam."
*snicker*
On Saturday, we sat around all afternoon, well, sort of did. I finished up the Bevcon shirts. As the pictures will show, they have "BevCon 2001" on the front and... "Co-ed naked Madlibs Give me a body part" on the back.
*snicker*
Met up with Kym at the Outback steakhouse, where I proceeded to get MORE food to take home. Damn that plate of cheese fries was huge. So was the onion. Speaking of which, I must retrieve mine, 'cause I'm starving...
Went and saw the Mummy 2 later. Was nifty movie, I was analysing plot holes while falling asleep. But still good. ;) Especially since I wasn't analysing them as they were happening.
Had some GORGEOUS fucking photography in it. I'm resisting the urge to become an archeologist again (I could care less about the digging part. It's the photographing and basking part I like)...
Got home, packed, and went to bed since I had to leave very early...
The drive home was fine. Except for the first three hours I kept having to fight the urge to turn around and go back.
Got home, found the note to call Anetra, called her, and... *snarl* Anyway.
Road trip coincidences: It was raining when I left St. Louis. It was raining when I left Omaha.
On the way up, there was a storm by St. Joseph. On the way back, there was a storm by Columbia. If you look at the mileage, they're both about 2/3 of the way through the trip. iirc. Either way. Funky.
Must go and score some food. Will prolly think of things to add, later....
