Ultraviolet rays for the holidays...
May. 12th, 2001 02:43 pmWent shopping last night. Wal-Mart at one am. Talk about crowded. I think they're taking stock, or something. Either way, the place was covered in boxes and all sorts of crap in the aisles. By the time I got done, I was so exhausted I had to sit in the parking lot for a while and just try to stop shaking. There was some thing about not having eaten for hours, too.
So. It's Mother's Day. I have to work. Yay me.
Came up with a nice idea for mom's pressie, though.
I bought a purple tshirt, and a bunch of fabric paints. While it'll be late, I think getting a shirt that says "World's Niftiest Mom" on it ought to be good. ;)
Tried to find her chocolate-covered cherries. Failed, so got her the good chocolate - Dove Promises in dark chocolate.
In sadder news, I finally heard Douglas Adams has passed away.
"A great light has gone out." -- Ned Alleyn, Shakespeare in Love.
I think there was more about 'first man amoung us' and stuff. Which is partially true. So much of what I write today can be traced back to me, at age ten, reading the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
There's also the irritation that he couldn't have waited until I met him to die. *mutter*
Selfish me.
Broke a plastic cup earlier. I put hot coffee in it, and one of the sides developed a crack. Oh well.
I had to save my hot cocoa and coffee by dumping it into a quart glass measuring thingie...
Dreams are odd things. Especially when I'm not all there, and desperately trying to say something. I wake up, and say things aloud. Like this morning I was trying to explain why I bought 'Virus' (I didn't, though I did think about it last night) to someone. And kept trying to say the lead actress's name. I kept getting it wrong, but I was determined to say it.
The phone ringing woke me up, and I open my mouth to croak, "Jamie Lee Curtis"
Sigh.
Y'know, I never did get around to reading Dirk Gently all the way through. I feel sort of guilty about that, now...
