Mar. 28th, 2001 02:11 amI've often wondered if I'm the only person who's writing style can get 'influenced' by what they're reading.
Like, say... Many of my recent Subreality-type posts have been written after I've been reading Pratchett. Some have been written while in the middle of reading him. I know this has an effect. Watching Monty Python occasionally effects the flavour, too.
Other authors do it, too. I read Lackey's Herald-Mage books and ended up writing a bunch of stuff in past tense--as memories. And realised afterwards, so tried to change it (I'm sorry, but that's a cheap out).
I could go on with examples. But it would be irritating.
On to other matters...
Needles. Needles are in big discussion...
I remember being about six, and absolutely REFUSING to let them give me a TB (tuberculosis) test. I squirmed and wriggled, and they had to get two nurses to hold me down.
Of course, I knew I'd broken my arm the afternoon I did so. Fell off my bike, felt it fold, lay in the street wincing for a moment... A nice lady was doing something with her plants and came out and picked me up. She set me in a chair and called my house for me. She even gave me iced tea.
Sigh.
They took blood, they gave me an IV... and then knocked me out so they could rebreak the wrist and set it straight.
Cold wet weather is now painful.
Eh.
I was rambly. It's gone now. byebye
