I have yet to figure out the magic words that garner huge reviews, even here, but I think one key to multi reviews over there is to say "And pls coment! If I dont get reviews I wont finish ths"
I don't suppose you'll share the dummy account with us, will you? I want to make a comparison of your work and the dummy work.
Also, is English your native language? Do you spell things correctly and use proper grammar? If yes, then this may be your problem. Seriously, that, and you may need to use l33t sp33k in your fics, that could help too.
Ok, see, I think your problem is, you let the canon characterisations creep in every now and then. Don't you know it's fanfiction and you don't have to put any effort into making the characters resemble their real selves??? Duh!
I no longer get the same thrill from ff.net feedback that I used to. Too much of it is just "I lurve you if you get them together," and "You've destroyed my world" if you don't, plus the old favourite "Please write a sequel, please!" when you've stated that you've finished.
Oh my god, I hate the people who ask for sequels! Dammit! People like that are the reason that Batman and Robin and the current crop of Star Wars movies exist!
Someday, I am gonna write a fic wherein there are massive explosions, everyone dies, there is no possibilty of resurrecting ANYONE or ANYTHING and someone is still gonna say, "OMG! You should write a sequel!"
And then I'm just gonna have to go get an Uzi and go on my tri-state killing spree. Because my last faith in humanity...gone.
I think the trick to getting lots of reviews on ff.net is to post a pretty average length fic (something around 2000+ words) in about three or four parts, more if you get the fic over 4000 words. Apparently that's the key to *ahem* success *ahem*. That and ending a part in the middle of the actual part, in the middle of a sentence/paragraph if possible, so reviews are compelled to tell you to write more.
I have a feeling that's why I've never managed to succeed on ff.net.
Thats what I've noticed. If someone posts a long fic it's only at the top of the page for a day or so. If you split the fic up into lots of parts and post one part every day it picks up more reviews. I hate it when writers say 'Review or I wont post any more' I don't review for them at all.
It can be worth checking out who's doing the reviewing - after a while you get a feel for who's critical and who will love anything as long as it has the magic words 'Sam and Jack in lurve' contained

Doesn't help. None of the fic there's been reviewed.

*grins at the silliness* Plus there are no passionate declarations of love either - that always helps.

And the good stuff is ignored.
Because of course we should all encourage the truly dreadful tripe.

I would do an in depth study but I'm currently hyper on additives (yet *again*) and so have a shorter attention span than a goldfish.

I did that.
And people asked for sequels.
And I'm half-asedly writing one.

I think part of the problem though is that there aren't enough canon-based pairings available - it sends people a little crazy.

I know I don't review as often as I should, but I do love your work.
