In an effort to kick-start Make Porn Not War (although this is G rated)...
Crossovery goodness... *wanders off to find clothes for work* Hrm. Should eat breakfast...
Dr. Elizabeth Weir liked to think of herself as a good judge of character. As she studied the young man across from her (despite the notations in his file, he didn't *look* almost 30), she found herself wondering about how he had ended up here. There was an earnestness and sincerity to him that was hard to resist. And damn hard to fake.
"So you're a geologist."
He inclined his head, letting a smile touch his lips. "Yes, ma'am."
If his file was to be believed, the young man in front of her was nothing less than a mutant terrorist. He seemed too calm for that. Or maybe she just wanted to believe he wasn't. There were high marks in his classes, recommendations from half a dozen people (Professor Charles Xavier *and* Dr. Nathaniel Essex had sent glowing commentary). Elizabeth wondered if he believed that mutants were better than humans.
Of course, if he did, he didn't show it. And she already had Dr. Rodney McKay. After McKay, there was really no need to look elsewhere for a self-righteous self-important man.
Still...
And there was the all-important Ancient gene, the one they were finding it so difficult to have in their scientists and explorers. The one they needed if they were to make a success of this.
Elizabeth considered, briefly, and made her decision. After all, he wouldn't be here if he hadn't already passed a half dozen exacting boards of interview and interrogation. And she liked the way he seemed to be completely relaxed. They could use calming influences. She cleared her throat and stood.
He stood as well, looking surprised.
"Welcome to the Atlantis Expedition, Mr. Guthrie."
An engagingly excited smile touched his lips. "Just call me Sam, ma'am."
"Sam."
