Crimson and gold, laughter suddenly silenced.

He can see her again, standing in front of him as they exchange vows. Her lips crimson, her skin gold and radiant. Two thousand years into the future she was still radiant with life and love. Twelve years spent raising a child that wasn't even hers hadn't dimmed that.

Left twisting in the wind by the world they defend. No change.
