Threads... thoughts and such
I've only seen the Clips of Significance, so I can't comment on the overall plot...

A couple of things on Threads...
1. To everyone who keeps going on about Sam's reaction to Pete's way of dealing with her breaking up with him. Do any of you remember who the last man she broke up with was? Yes. That would be Jonas "I Am God" Hansen. You can bet your fuck-me-boots the man's reaction was a LOT nastier. He probably said horrible things to her, ranted, and raved. In comparison, Pete's almost-calm was probably a shock.
And maybe a disappointment, too. Perhaps Sam thought it would hurt them both more. That there should BE something there to show it was a mistake--her breaking it off.
2. Yes. Sam went directly from looking at the house with Pete to Jack's. Because the whole "I bought a house for you and didn't consult you! Even though we apparently had a detailed house conversation the first time we fucked! I had a tape recorder or I wouldn't remember it..." unsettled her, and she needed some sort of conversation with someone not Pete to deal with it. As there was no Daniel OR Teal'c, she went to Jack.
3. Kerry probably was listening from the kitchen, or wherever she was inside Jack's. Enough to figure out exactly what Sam was driving at. Kerry didn't strike me as stupid, the few times I saw her. Plus, she may have seen them interact before. And you can BET the gossip mill probably still talks about them, sometimes. (Hell, she might have gotten a friendly warning from someone about Jack being 'unavailable', for all we know)
4. Speaking of Kerry, omg! Jack TOTALLY had the drugged-out, blissed look of "I had LOTS of sex last night" when Carter called him. That was not the reaction of a man who was happy to leave his bed, either.
5. I didn't hate Kerry. Huh. I still want to know why Jack was dating a woman young enough to be his grandchild, though.
6. I kind of feel sorry for Pete. Even though I don't like him (watch this space, my rabid shipperness may swing back the other way later).
7. Although, considering the conversation with Jacob, wtf do Sam and Pete TALK about? I mean, seriously. He couldn't even talk to her dad! I just... Never saw them as having much in common, and that awkward little scene drove it home worse.
8. Sam and Jack don't need to talk. Sex is fine.
9. Alas poor Jacob, your plot-device was known well. Although telling Sam to chase Jack was amusing.
10. The Oma Desala stuff. OMG! I so fucking called this bitch! Daniel and SG-1 have been her pawns since day one because SHE FUCKED UP. I now expect her and Merlin to have a contest to see who can manipulate people to their bidding better. Merlin will win, even though Roma smashed his chess set. Sigh. Roma, come deal with this Oma bitch, please...
... possibly more later.

Actually, not seeing this ep yet is about to drive me loopy. Still, I cannot. stop. reading. spoilers.
Stick a fork in me, I'm way past done.

See, I was already spoilered for it, so I figured I'd just get moreso. And then I had to watch the clips, so... *happysigh*
It's nice an' subtle.

I thought she expected their relationship to mean something more than the tepid break-up showed, to somehow feel that the decision to try to move on had not been utterly empty of sense.
And good point on the previous break-up being with Jonas Hanson. That one must have been vocal.
3. Kerry probably was listening from the kitchen, or wherever she was inside Jack's. Enough to figure out exactly what Sam was driving at. Kerry didn't strike me as stupid, the few times I saw her. After the spoilers first came out, I thought we'd get more than just the backyard scene for Kerry to catch up on Sam/Jack because it didn't seem enough. I'm inclined as you are to think she overhead part of it from inside the house. Otherwise, even with the rumors, she'd be too close to a
Mary Suepsychic to figure it out.4. Speaking of Kerry, omg! Jack TOTALLY had the drugged-out, blissed look of "I had LOTS of sex last night" when Carter called him. That was not the reaction of a man who was happy to leave his bed, either.
Hey, no sex for years, any resurgence (pun intended) of such activity is bound to leave poor Jack washed out. *g*
7. Although, considering the conversation with Jacob, wtf do Sam and Pete TALK about? I mean, seriously. He couldn't even talk to her dad! I just... Never saw them as having much in common, and that awkward little scene drove it home worse.
Hell yeah. And Pete looked incredibly stupid in it. I'm blaming the writers though.
9. Alas poor Jacob, your plot-device was known well. Although telling Sam to chase Jack was amusing.
And he was so totally trying to stir trouble in the briefing room by exposing Sam's personal life to Jack. Go Jacob! I wish we'd had a Jacob/Jack scene though. Jack didn't get to say goodbye to Dad.
no subject
Yes! Jack should have had a goodbye scene (although him leaning on Sam would have been... shippy and wrong, but cute).
And, I finally figured out what the briefing room scene was. Jacob basically trying to prod Sam into realizing that this guy obviously doesn't give a crap about her job. He doesn't respect it when she says she's working... I reeeeeally don't think Jake liked Pete.
Hm...
no subject
Ya think? *g*
Beside the fact that there was no need to get Pete inside the SGC again to meet Jacob, as Jacob can go outside (see convo with Sam about him going to visit his son and grand kids), the encounter scene felt forced in terms of Pete stupidity. The guy isn't a genius but he seems to know better than go all 'you're a freak, you know' on his future father-in-law. Carmen Argenziano's acting was really great though.
Did you notice that Jacob lied about Selmak liking Pete? Selmak has been comatose since the ancient weapon blew a few days ago, no way Selmak has a opinion on Pete. *g*
BTW, I thought Selmak was a 'she'. I suppose it's fanon more than canon then. However, I still have trouble with the 'four years period' Sam and Jacob referred to, seems to me it should be something more like six years.
no subject
And, yes! Jacob SO LIED to make her feel better.
Well, fanon is that Selmak was a she, because we're all amused by the idea. Plus, Selmak WAS a woman.
And the timing! I knew I'd forgotten something that bothered me. Maybe Jake can't count in Earth years anymore, and thus thinks in Tok'ra years?
Pete
And these people think Sam/Jack has power issues?

Re: Pete
And she was trying to go back to sleep. Or feeling him up. I mean, hey, you've got a sleepy, half-naked Jack in bed, talking to some Colonel Carter. What do YOU do? Sleep on it, or try to distract him? ;)

Because this is The Truth According To Hollywood (run by old men), that Sexy Young Things find Mature Men Attractive.
Yeah, right. ;)

(speaking of, apparently Kerry was supposed to be 35. ... yeah, RIGHT.)

Err...
That said, there's a few folks out there that are perpetual baby-faces. And yet they still want us to believe Cortney Thorne-Smith is around the same age as Jim Belushi (I assume; have never watched that show) and finds him attractive. Or something.
