oh, flist...

*throws self down, prostrate* Forgive me for my sins, for I have wanked....

It's a small wank, though. Sadly.

Do I get 40 lashes? Cold and hot water torture? Or should I just be sexually-repressed and go back to writing porn?

(nothing says sexual repression like Courtney Love drunk and looking to screw a guy in a bathroom, you know)

It's hard not to generalize, when I see the same patterns repeated over and over, from fandom to fandom.

Popular Pairing X takes over the fandom, and if you don't ship it you're stupid. Character-bashing is completely and utterly allowed, even glorified in many cases (Sam/Jack vs. Daniel!), especially alternate love interests (poor Pete).

Now, BSG is extra special, because the canon is apparently so god-damned threatening they have to go to extra lengths to deny that Kara might love someone else.

I have to say that at least I haven't (yet) seen someone claim Kara should have been raped and tortured for daring to love another man. I'm not holding my breath, though.

*nods* I usually don't mind whether they're popular or not (except for the lack of fic, god-dammit). It's a herd mentality, in some ways. You get a few people at the top, and everyone falls into line with the party. So to speak. Doesn't matter what fandom or pairing (Kara/Anders has only escapes it--somewhat--because I tend to mock the hell out of myself when I get cranky. Well. Generally. But that is what ranting at my poor roommate is for--also, there's such a small fanbase)

Aw. That's sad. I'm not sure if it would have caused wank, but probably. I honestly wish this was a fandom that focused more on characters than pairings--we have something like three Starbuck comms, and they get no traffic, whatsoever. It's criminal, given she's supposed to be the most popular character.

Nah. Rambling is good.
