SFS: quick moment.
Dresden when I get home (OH HARRY)
BSG: ...pointless.
So. A very large number of you know how much I hate Kara Thrace and her Special Destiny. But, y'know, I didn't realize that Kara's Special Destiny was to commit suicide.
Hey, Ron and Co.? If you wanted to get rid of Katee that much? Killing her off in Eye of J. would have been so much better. You could have then had Sam shoot Lee, and then Sam put on trial for war crimes. Because Sam? Far much better as a Man of the People. Unlike Baltar, who fucked them all over.
You could also have completely dropped the pointless Kara/Lee crap and instead wove in the Leoben stuff, so that didn't come completely out of left field. Making Sam be Mr. Exposition on Leoben was also a bit annoying. Nice to know his only reason for living is to tell Kara how much she should go to other men. Guess he's really just there to move that plot along, huh?
Kara's mom. You'll all have to forgive me, I've read far too much Mercedes Lackey. So, that was pretty fucking yawn-worthy, and even a bit wtf when Kara basically showed that, um, it was OK for her mother to beat her as a child. Good to know.
Good things--yeah, the ep had one or two:
1. Katee's performance.
2. The Leoben and the painting sex, plus Kara's orgasm while Hot Dog watched (oh, Hot Dog, you voyeur).
3. Sam showing up--obviously, she chases Leoben off with her husband. Pity that she doesn't follow his advice.
Actually, speaking of Sam. How much has he always freaked inside when Kara's talked about her mother? I bet there were times he went off and got drunk rather than think about it. Sigh.
All in all, the ep was about as crap as I was expecting.
Next week: Baltar's trial. 'cause we all want that. Yup.

1) Kara told Lee to let her go, and I don't think that was just about letting her go into the light. I think that was a big "forget about me and stick with your wife" kind of thing, especially since she was asking about how he and Dee were doing. To me, this ep was Kara's big goodbye to Lee because, sorry Lee/Kara shippers, Lee isn't her destiny.
2) Sam has the dog tag back. The "I'm coming back for you" dog tag. Because she isn't dead. She will be coming back for Sam. As Sam himself said in TABFAYW, they are destined.
3) Kara is in the space between life and death. She isn't dead. She's hanging out in the Kobol opera house with the Final Five finding out who she really is and what her destiny really is. She'll either be back at the end of this season or the beginning of S4 to tell us all what this grand destiny is. There has to be more to it than "you're so special because you're going to die."

2. I CANNOT BELIEVE I missed that. I just can't. I am, however, PISSED AS HELL that we didn't get to see her give it back.
3. I hate this metaphysical shit. I want my science fiction hard, dammit.

Ron - Stop trying to be the big fun cool guy on the TV campus. Go to your room, get online and study. No, not from Lee/Kara related sites, study the bigger picture. Good boy.
David - Get the hell out while you can. Go, make other TV and this time keep it good. You have long lasting potential. You will not do a Ron and succumb to Star Trek-like plots.
Can I start calling Kara, Sisko? And is it just me, or is season 3 a lot like Angel meets DOOL but in space?

Yes. Call her Sisko. We can call her Buffy, too.

I just... I think the thing that irritates me about BSG so much is that if could be good. If someone would fucking edit them and make them write a coherent season-long storyline!
er. Go write fix-it fic?
