Warren Ellis and Jeph Loeb were AWESOME in 1995

I have proof!

See, I was going through old magazines, and came across old interviews with them. At the time, Loeb was just taking over Cable, and Ellis had Excalibur.

Scans, because I'm that geeky, and PLEASE NOTE what Ellis says about Meggan, because that is so fucking awesome and cool. ([livejournal.com profile] familyarchives, [livejournal.com profile] angualupin, [livejournal.com profile] nique, and [livejournal.com profile] vickyocean, you want to notice what Loeb thinks the core of the book is....)

Oh, Dom. OH, NATE.

yah. Even if he doesn't like Six Pack. *adds the pages on X-Force* ALSO. Apparently, there was supposed to be more Rogue/Bobby stuff. I only remember the road trip...

Cripes, Meggan was illiterate for five years? Couldn't Braddock, in between blowjob sessions, set her down with a damn book?

That would have distracted from her being a blonde bimbo whose essential reason for being was to make Brian happy.

You have to agree with Ellis and wonder what Moira was doing this whole time -- laughing at her?

[identity profile] samy.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe Moira even met Meggan until #71, meaning about a year real time (and probably mere weeks Marvel time) before Ellis came on the title, and also Moira at the time was written as being EXTREMELY preoccupied with the Legacy Virus, so I find it a little disingenuous to accuse her of laughing behind Meggan's back, when they'd barely been living together.

Now, Brian, of course, it makes sense to ask what HE'S been thinking, but he was never the brightest bulb on the block anyway so that's perfectly in character for him.

Moira, she just never had the chance to get to know Meggan before Ellis came on board.

Hey! Warren Ellis is *still* awesome.

*sticks tongue at you*

*dryly* I never said he wasn't.

True. I think my inner fanboy overtook me for a minute there, however, the self-named Internet Jesus is very strange. Check out his LJ [livejournal.com profile] warren_ellis for details.

Oh, Dom. Oh, Nathan.

*flail*

I got all excited about this, to the point of jumping up and down in glee, when I realized these were scans from twelve years ago.

And then I thought, who the fuck cares? Nate and Dom are meant for each other, man. If they don't kill each other first.

But it PROVES that that's always been their schtick. And amuses the hell out of me, that a male writer says the point of the book is the romantic relationship. Even if it contains violence. ;)

It's a pity it took until Nicieza (Is God) decided to retcon himself to make it canon.

And yes, it is amusing that a male (comic book!) writer says the point of (one of the most violent!) books was two characters being fated to be together.

Mwahahaha. That was the nice thing. He and Fabian were really of a like mind on Nate and Dom...

Jeez, '95? That's really scary that it was that long ago. I knew I liked Jeph Loeb for a reason. That was when Ian Churchill was penciling it, right? The issue where they take take Rictor to the airport and Shatterstar gets all teary had to be one of my all time favorite issues. So much Cable/Domino in it.

*goes to dig out very battered issue*

Warren Ellis...

*sigh*

The only person I have ever gotten fangirly at a con over. I bummed a cigarette off of a hapless bystander so I could smoke with Warren. I don't even smoke. But, seriously, Pete Wisdom vs. Lockheed, one of the only reasons I'd ever pick up Excalibur. I'm so out of it these days with the X-titles, is Pete still dead? The X-people could use his snark.
