Kara/Anders, obssessions, and random rambliness

David Kemper is God. (I'm just sayin')

I have slept, this is good.

I'm still... pissed isn't exactly the right word. Frustrated, possibly? BSG seems to go for the stupidest cliche moments, as well as the pointless Warrior Woman Angst (tm Aeryn Sun, most recently). ...I'm sorry, I'm having to approach this in a roundabout way.

So. Sam and Kara.

The essence of the scene in Collaborators is that Kara needs space, and Sam is afraid she'll hurt him more, so he's stopping it before it starts. Considering she basically said she would hurt him, that's very self-preserving of him.

And the scene works for me--up until Sam basically says, "this is the end."

I was fine with them splitting, I was fine with her telling him, "Go away before I hurt you." I was even fine with him giving her the dog tag. I just wasn't fine with the words he said (and on my first viewing, I didn't hear what he said and was actually happy about the scene).

So, um, yes. You'll have to excuse me as I sulk a little about them being more over than I'd thought.

Because I doubt Kara is ever going to go, "Gosh I need him" and chase after him. Kara doesn't do shit like that. And Sam is not going to be her punching bag.

Actually, that part is good.

Hell, the part where they're both coming at this from very different places is excellent.

I suppose it could have been worse. There could'a been a coin toss.

The crunchy angst this will provide will be marvellous, I suppose. That's why I was writing it in fic, after all. (ok, so I was really writing it in fic so that they couldn't write it in the show, and, damn, I hate thinking like Ron Moore and Co.)

I predict we will now get lots of self-destructive behavior on Kara's part. And Sam will probably go be angsty until redheaded Jean Brightman smacks him upside the head and tells him to grow the frak up. Someday, I might get angsty porn. (I want it now, damnit)

And I refuse to write the version of the scene where Sam says, "Fine. Then hurt me." and they get into a really screwed-up relationship.

I am, however, going to finish John Crichton and the Boys Instruct Sam on Dealing with a Warrior Woman and her Angst.

If only for the line, "Shut up, Ronon. We only let you in because you bring beer."

According to the podcast, Anders is here to stay (how long, I don't know), because he's now part of the family. Take comfort in that much.
