David Kemper is God. (I'm just sayin')
I have slept, this is good.
I'm still... pissed isn't exactly the right word. Frustrated, possibly? BSG seems to go for the stupidest cliche moments, as well as the pointless Warrior Woman Angst (tm Aeryn Sun, most recently). ...I'm sorry, I'm having to approach this in a roundabout way.
So. Sam and Kara.
The essence of the scene in Collaborators is that Kara needs space, and Sam is afraid she'll hurt him more, so he's stopping it before it starts. Considering she basically said she would hurt him, that's very self-preserving of him.
And the scene works for me--up until Sam basically says, "this is the end."
I was fine with them splitting, I was fine with her telling him, "Go away before I hurt you." I was even fine with him giving her the dog tag. I just wasn't fine with the words he said (and on my first viewing, I didn't hear what he said and was actually happy about the scene).
So, um, yes. You'll have to excuse me as I sulk a little about them being more over than I'd thought.
Because I doubt Kara is ever going to go, "Gosh I need him" and chase after him. Kara doesn't do shit like that. And Sam is not going to be her punching bag.
Actually, that part is good.
Hell, the part where they're both coming at this from very different places is excellent.
I suppose it could have been worse. There could'a been a coin toss.
The crunchy angst this will provide will be marvellous, I suppose. That's why I was writing it in fic, after all. (ok, so I was really writing it in fic so that they couldn't write it in the show, and, damn, I hate thinking like Ron Moore and Co.)
I predict we will now get lots of self-destructive behavior on Kara's part. And Sam will probably go be angsty until redheaded Jean Brightman smacks him upside the head and tells him to grow the frak up. Someday, I might get angsty porn. (I want it now, damnit)
And I refuse to write the version of the scene where Sam says, "Fine. Then hurt me." and they get into a really screwed-up relationship.
I am, however, going to finish John Crichton and the Boys Instruct Sam on Dealing with a Warrior Woman and her Angst.
If only for the line, "Shut up, Ronon. We only let you in because you bring beer."

So, there is hope.

YAY!!! This has made my whole day! I, like the poster above, was convinced this was BSG saying, "Thanks, Sam, but don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!" So to hear he's still around for a few more episodes at least - yay!!!
Still bummed about the split from Kara, but I'm looking forward to more yummy moments with Sam.

Sam just... needs to wander around in the background a lot. Shirtless would be nice.

Me too. I tried once way back in season one, and I didn't have the attention span and/or am not as big of a BSG fan to listen to that drivel. I have had no desire to listen since.
Mmmm...shirtless...

Indeed. Although, right now, he's pantsless.

So, we are totally missing out on stuff. Ron cut it way down and changed it so it cut back and forth from them to the jury, instead of that scene following. He says he did a version that was even shorter, but other people on the show made him get it back this long. Makes me wonder if Sam tried more to talk her into letting him help her at least.
I'm glad we are going to see more of Sam at least and I loved your fic with her at least coming to him for comfort sex! Anyway, just thought I'd add those details, frustrating though they are, at least to me.

Thank you =) (and I'm not sure it's comfort sex, but... it could be...)

Though he also said at one point that there had been scenes showing Kara having flashbacks/nightmares to Leoben and other things to show she was having a hard time and he'd cut them as well as overkill. He wished he'd left them in somewhat, because he said maybe viewers wouldn't be with her enough in this version, which I would say is true! I mean, I understood where she was coming from, but I can see from reading other reactions that everyone didn't.
So, that one really makes me not safe to be around him, LOL, as well as him saying that there weren't more scenes of Leoben and Kara because there was nothing else to show-when I have a million questions about what happened to her during those four months and exactly what he did to her!
Hmm, well not comfort sex exactly, human contact at least? Ok, will quit babbling now honest. ;>P
