SFF: I need booze.

BSG: ...

ETA: Shit, I forgot Gaius. I'm sorry. I love Gaius, and he IS BACK in this episode. In fine form, too, at the end. I loved his line about, "I should have said that first" er, and as I said before...

Let's go with the allegorical and Dark parts, first. Because otherwise, this will be bad and full of entitlement issues that I tried to smack out of myself this morning (seriously, where did the sane shipper in me go?)

I just... It was well-done and such. And dark and deep and yadda yadda.

Jammer is dead. Since I've disliked him since Litmus (no, really, I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] timjr about this), I am... happy. But his death is going to come back to bite Chief in the ass. Poor honorable man.

Seelix and Jean were lovely to see. I'm glad that Jean is still as much of a bitch as she was way back in LYDB2. And Seelix? Yes. All kinds of lovely.

Gaeta. Oh, Sparky. You were so tired of trying to defend yourself. I love you so. Because you knew this might happen, and you still stayed working for the other side. You get cookies, man.

So does Chief, for sitting with him.

I.... Dad and Mom were great. Yes. And Zarek! HAHAHAH. I love you, man. Don't ever stop being a weasel.

Lee is, appropriately, on the liposuction diet.

Tigh. He's lost everything and now he finds out... yeah. Someone else said it best. Hollow victory.

sigh.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a dyed-in-the-wool-gun-ho Kara/Anders shipper. Hell, I figure I'm the co-Official Batshit Insane Kara/Anders shipper. But, generally, it's in jest. And generally, I'm the first to mock obsessive shippers and their reactions to canon and, hell, I send up Jaka and half a dozen members of the Sam/Jack list every chance I can.

But I realized something this morning. I have entitlement issues when it comes to Kara and Anders. Maybe it's because I dove so enthusiastically into shipping them. Maybe it's because I don't trust this writing team (and haven't since I first watched the mini, for those who are wondering) further than I can throw a bus.

That said, I want to smack them both. Kara for her Oh So Special Emo, and Sam for GIVING UP.

(I suppose this is like wanting to smack Vanyel halfway through the second Herald-Mage book--he never learns, either)

Gah. I can't think about this intelligently anymore (poor [livejournal.com profile] dlly got ranted at the entire way to his house).

I would, however, like to note that except for Sam giving her back her dog tag and saying he was done with it? Except for that? I pretty much wrote that scene in the season 3 spec fic of doom.

Now, I need some pop music.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH MOM AND DAD!?

[identity profile] agent-dark.livejournal.com 2006-10-28 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
The great (or not so great, depending on your POV) thing with BSG is that it fracks with everyone who has an OTP. It's the Anti-OTP Show of Doom.

The gen fans are the real winners in this fandom ;)

yay gen?

My biggest problem is, well, it's so cliche. But then, I have to keep reminding myself that it always has been, and I knew going in that they weren't going to ever let them stay together. That wouldn't sell their soap opera, after all.

I'm a little more lenient on Kara because I think she does deserve some very special Emo time after what she went through. However, I totally agree that we need to gang up on Anders and smack the shit out of him. You would think after being married for a year that he would have learned one of the most important rules - 'When your woman is all emo and she tells you to just go away, YOU DO NOT EVER JUST WALK AWAY!' So you're right, he just gave up way too easily.

I think... I'm disappointed in the writers. Which is sad, given my lack of trust in them in the first place.

I'm also pissed because I've written that scene in essence in three different fics, and I hate being right.

I totally thought about you during the break-up scene. It was just so... yeah. They go through this whole horrible life down on the planet and under Cylon occupation and they finally get back to the ship. And THEN they break-up? That's just horrible, man.

And I did think that, well, at least they didn't kill him. But, of course, that means nothing for the future.

*makes incoherent noises*

HELP. I'm turning into Jaka over here, man. Stop me from saying stuff like, "I must write to TPB!" and "If they don't end up together..."

[identity profile] ianmcin.livejournal.com 2006-10-28 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I was half expecting that, even after Tyrol gave his little speech about "without him, we'd all still be on that planet," Gaeta would still say, "frak it, push the button." I was getting a seriously suicidal vibe from him throughout the tail end of that episode, and his refusal to defend himself at his "trial" made me think he was just tired of living. "What kind of life do I have ahead of me, even if this somehow cleared my name? A life of eating alone in the cafeteria, a life of never being trusted or forgiven? Just end it all right now and spare me the agony."

It was good to see the chief join him in the final scene, but it's clear he's got a long road ahead of him.

*nods* Gaeta did have that aura to him. I just... He hates himself for believing in Gaius, I think. And everyone hates him for it, plus most of them won't understand that he was helping the resistance. Even if Chief explains it, it won't be enough.

And he does have a long road. sigh. (maybe he and Kara can have therapy together)

...i feel like such a dork for being so damn sad for Jammer.

But I seriously want to smack Seelix upside the head, so much. She's hot, but STUPID now.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2006-10-28 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't. Because if you could read my brain, you would find I am far dorkier and idiotic about the Kara/Sam thing.

She's angry. Like Kara, but far more controlled. Jean was, too, which I found interesting. Charlie was in it because of his son, and Tigh because of Ellen. But Jean and Seelix thought they were doing right, avenging the deaths and destruction.

And, yeah, they were hot, too (I can't believe there hasn't been more Jean. damnit.)

[identity profile] projectcyborg.livejournal.com 2006-11-10 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
just dropping in to say -- Jean is the readhead? yay! I am hopeless at keeping track of minor lesbians and totally didn't remember seeing her before the webisodes. so when do we get Seelix/Jean slash??

Yup. Jean Barolay, iirc. And she's been around since Downloaded, where she used a cigarette as a bomb timer. *pleased*

Er, I'm not sure. I keep getting distracted.
