Oh, Ellen was great. You know how I suck at movie references? Well, I caught that one, because it was from a play. When Romeo leans over the poisoned body of Juliet, at the pulpit of the church. (And then he dies... at least a little bit inside). Her execution was hasty and unnecessary in the face of larger problems. Anders owes the piper for that one, because Tigh was Ellen's Galactica.

When it comes to canon, I have a "no babies" button too, because the writers invariably muff it up in attempts to be emo. Like over in that book I masochistically read, where the baby is all right but the entire premise for it is ludicrously offensive, trumped up real world texture. But it's okay that your favorite female character acted like a fucking retard because babies are cute! "Stuff" happens, right?

Maybe in real life. In writing it means the author is manipulating reader response and we shouldn't notice the buttons being pushed. To make matters worse, Kara just got the standard temporary baby plot. You know, the one where the female character is overwhelmed by maternal love only to have her hopes crushed into motivational angst by the baby's death/removal. Eww.
