as I am bored.

Guess the songs, yo.

First lines (except where stated) more or less at random (although Winamp LOVED one particular band, they only appear here ONCE) minus the really obscure ones (I don't think anyone would guess the opening to When Animals Attack by Institute, f'r instance).

1. I open up my head inside and find another person's mind. - 30 Seconds to Mars 'The Mission' - [livejournal.com profile] cherryice
2. (ignoring the hyperbole at the beginning) Please let me introduce you to a brand new idea.
3. The news had come out in the first World War. - Ray Stevens 'Snoopy and the Red Baron' - [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2
4. And I didn't want to know, I just didn't want to know.
5. In the soil of our sadness - Siousxie and the Banshees 'Rhapsody' - [livejournal.com profile] spockette
6. You took my hand, you showed me how - Pink 'Who Knew?' - [livejournal.com profile] walkingdaydream
7. He loves her but he sometimes thinks she's crazy - Pet Shop Boys 'Somebody Else's Business' - [livejournal.com profile] rieloflorien
8. What I have is nothing to my need
9. (second line) It must have been something you said - Cutting Crew 'I Just Died in Your Arms' - [livejournal.com profile] shadowserenity
10. You say you fell while holding diamonds - Anna Nalick 'In the Rough' - [livejournal.com profile] shadowserenity

Oooh, I love Anna Nalick... so #10 is "In The Rough".

#9 is "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" by Cutting Crew, I think.

Yup and yup. =)

#3 is "Snoopy & the Red Baron." Unless it's the Christmas one instead.

Er, I have no idea. But it is, yes.

[identity profile] persephone-kore.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's the Christmas one... the other starts off with something unintelligible to me and possibly German, and then "After the turn of the century...."

And, huh, Ray Stevens? I thought it was the Royal Guardsmen. Maybe a cover. Although in that case maybe the lyrics changed some. *g*

I only report what ze winamp claims.

And I think it is Christmas.

I've probably got a few with the wrong attribution, myself. It's possible Stevens did do a cover, though. Who knows? I do not.

1: Thirty Seconds to Mars - The Mission

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! And, oh, dear GOD, do I love that line.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oddly enough, I actually had that album on.

It is an excellent line, yes, and I think I kind of like them more than I should -- but it is NOT just because of the thing I have for Jared Leto, honest.

Hah. Cool.

...er? Who? (I like them because they are, well, right up my alley lyrics-beat-sound-wise)

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hee.

Jared Leto is an actor of little fame, but very pretty eyes (http://mscl.free.fr/jaredleto/leto.jpg).

Oh. Him. What's he got to do with 30StM?

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
He is their lead singer. *nods*

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
...dude. That, I did not know. Freaky. He's got a decent voice.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
He also writes most the lyrics and music, as well as playing the guitar and sometimes bass.

It's kind of scary, huh? This is why I always feel the need to qualify "But it's not just because I have a thing about Jared Leto." Which leads to either confused looks or a sad shake of the head in most people.

And, see, I don't hold it against him, 'cause I like the stuff (I've liked them since Edge of the Earth used to play, I just never got round to downloading until recently).

People are odd.

Yus.

Actually, it was the Pet Shop Boys that Winamp seemed to love (Positive Role Model, Discoteca, Home and Dry, AND Time on My Hands popped up)

PSB aren't bad at all! Though I am very much into 30stm at the moment :-)
