instead of saying it in the 30+ places it's been mentioned...

No.

I don't think the 'oppression joke' is funny.

It wasn't funny to begin with, and it's even less funny now.

I hate Kara/Lee.

But you know what? I don't go around telling people every fucking chance I get (Yep. I have it in my user info. Not the same thing).

I like reading your journals and commentary. However, I don't like continually getting slapped in the face for speaking out about my dislike for your fucking ship.

eta: as requested.

Kara/Lee = oppression of the people who don't like the ship.

It began after a rather whiny commentary by myself (and one or two others) elsewhere about the fact that 90% of the fic out there is Kara/Lee, 90% of the rec'd fic is Kara/Lee, and 90% of the commentary is Kara/Lee.

I honestly don't even know if it's being directed at me, but as I AM one of those people who doesn't like it, it certainly feels like it is.

eta2: yup. Being directed at me. *bows* I've gotta tell you, it's very strange to be on this side of the shipper divide. I kinda feel like a Daniel/Jack shipper.

I don't know a lot about this one, so, okay. It's just, generally, it doesn't become not personal because the names don't get mentioned or get left behind in the origins. If anything, it gets more personal, because it means the target can see it but can't really say "look, if you have a problem with me, we can, you know, work this out..." without being kind of turned away, being told that it's just generic while whatever's getting to them continues. I'd always assumed the oppression thing was at the expense of some wotsername (Telkena?) sort who threw a major wobbly about her feedback after a history of mockable behavior, because it looked like someone was getting ridden hard about something really stupid they'd done that they'd never be allowed to live down, so I was really surprised by this post. But, like I said, this is the first clue I've gotten as to where that joke really came from, so I don't really know what started any of this - for all I know, it's an even older in-joke and this is just unfortunate crossfire and the unfortunate timing of tempers running high.
