(actually, I'm thinking I need a "Bitch, please" icon to deal with Telkena)
eta: And. She has fans. It's scary.
Ahem.
Dear Feminists who ranted about the depiction of women in Sin City. Get your panties out of their twist and GO AFTER AUTHORS LIKE TELKENA, who is doing nothing but raping canon, her characters, and portraying Sam Carter as a woman who likes to be abused and raped.

Ignoring canon for less than literary genius is bad.
Saying "But I SAID they were OOC!" doesn't make the fic better; it's excusing bad characterization. If you really, really have to, and you're not a literary genius, do a Mirror Universe fic. It's not like they aren't canon in SGworld.
But none of those are the worst things in the world. A good writer can twist canon and make it dance the way she tells it. A mediocre or bad writer can't. It's just a failed literary attempt.
Portraying rape as part of an OTP true-love relationship is contributing to the societal myths that women secretly enjoy rape and it doesn't really hurt them, and that rape is about sex and love instead of violence and dominance. That, at a minimum, a borderline misogynist action, and a severely misogynist viewpoint.
Odds are a fair number of her readers will be date-raped; a fair number of women are, on average. How many of them will feel like they're able to report it, and how many will somewhat uncomfortably try to shove it away with "Well, he must have really wanted me, I guess... if he cares that much, I guess he didn't do anything wrong."
And it's okay because she says she's a psychiatrist? That's the worst part.

Word.
And she is *so* not a psychiatrist. Needs a psychiatrist, maybe...
