Who is the one author (and yes, you only get one:)), whose work always leaves you inspired and wanting to push yourself to make your writing more like that (and, mind you, I'm not saying your writing needs any work at all, just that every writer has something they personally aspire to:)). And--which one of your stories, for you, comes the closest to being what you really want to be able to write (or maybe you're ahead of me, and it's EXACTLY what you want to write *g*).

*goes to stare at her bookshelf*

ok (and because there's no way in hell to pick just ONE fanfic author who's been fabulous and influenced me, and while I want to marry Paul Abbott and steal his writing talent, it's not quite the same), having stared thoughtfully at my bookshelf, I keep coming back to Carla Kelly.

Yes, she writes Regency Romances. Yes, it's a sub-genre of a section of fiction that isn't particularly considered literary. But she's utterly fabulous and draws incredible pictures with words and can make you laugh, cry, scream, ache and love with careful words and... Gah. She's incredible.

As for fic I was really happy with... gah. Erm. There are a lot that I'm perfectly happy with. Right at the moment, I'm really really happy with 'Reflexive Impulse', because I made choices when crafting the lines (I feel so pompous) that turned it out the way it is. *cough* I'm not sure if this has ever been noted, but I happen to have a ravingly large ego that occasionally needs smacking.

Waaayyyyy late... Never properly thanked you for replying to this. I really enjoyed your answer. This kind of stuff just fascinates me.:) Regencies!?!????:D Never would have guessed that one...*g*

And I'm not sure if I've read 'Reflexive Impulse' (I'm so bad with titles...). Or maybe that's the one where...hmmm...Must go check...

Thanks again!
