...wow...

Note to self: either you have serious issues, or the Battlestar mini commentary sounds really fucking pretentious.

Seriously. I know the Farscape guys did a lot of, "Aren't we cool?" type dialogue, but, but... They did it in a cute, "We are SUCH GEEKS" way. Whereas, I feel like I'm being talked down to, listening to this commentary (I didn't make it past the first set of credits...).

*paraphrases* "And so, we're the only space show to be realistic." (actually, they used much more high-falutin' dialogue. I think I needed a dictionary).

Yeah. While you've got your nose in the air, could you tell me if it's raining acid? Kthnx.

Erm, in other news, I need to go kick dinner.

No, you definitely don't have issues. I have great respect for the people responsible for the new BSG, but I really wish they'd get over themselves already. I want to listen to that commentary because there might be interesting stuff in there, but I just don't think I can handle three hours of them talking about how they're reinventing science fiction because most of it sucks.

Maybe? I don't know. Claudia Black and Rowan Woods talked about the Art of Acting and the set and stuff on the Crackers commentary for Farscape, and it... It wasn't this bad. Yeah, it was the wrong kind of commentary for Crackers (they should've locked Ben, Claudia, Tony and Gigi in a room...)

And some actor commentary can be boring.

Or can be funny as hell (actor commentary on Bab5's Geometry of Shadows is frickin' hilarious).

Good. *nods* I mean, I think they've done a fabulous job, too, but... Sheesh, guys. Talk about Katee whacking off, or something (er...). Even how much food people ate. We get that you're great, and we like what you've done. But it's all been said before (actually, the commentary on Farscape's premiere episode is almost this bad. But it's Ben, David Kemper and Rockne O'Bannon, and they're... geeky.)

...er, anyway. *stops rambling*

I tried to watch the Farscape premier commentary, but, again, I gave up pretty quickly. It's just...boring.

I wish people would realize that commentaries are supposed to be fun. It's nice to hear a little bit about how things were done, but I like to hear funny behind the scenes stories and stuff. Ron Moore's podcast for the last episode was a little closer to that, so maybe they'll get better for series commentary. I'm also hoping that maybe we'll get some actor commentary at some point, since I suspect that could be really fun. *crosses fingers*

*nods* Well, yeah. They basically repeated a bunch of the interviews they'd done as prep for the show. Which, after hearing them for the seventh time is... boring.

Later commentaries get better... (and anything with Ben and Claudia is comedy gold)

I crave actor commentaries. I'm sad. I'll even listen to the Doctor Who ones that are basically, "We don't remember shit, so we're making stuff up."

Farscape folks always gave me the impression of "Holy CRAP I can't believe THIS is my job!"

BSG from what I've seen seems...terribly serious. Which is ok, but...something I can't really put my finger on it that just turns me off. I'm sure someone will sit me down with episodes someday. ;)

Eh. Katee Sackhoff seems to be pretty fluffy and bouncy. *shrug*
