Marvel Comics Epiphany re: Scott and Jean

Leaving aside the fact that I like Phoenix: End Song and that it's very pretty...

I realized something this morning. The Scott and Jean in the comicbooks are not the real Scott and Jean. The real couple are off in space, with Corsair, playing at being space pirates and having Scott bond with his dad (since Scott and relationships with family members? Needs work). Jean and Hepzibah are trading child-rearing tips.

See, they decided once Poccy was dead, that they needed a break. So they borrowed some of SHIELD's LMDs, mocked them up properly, and told Hank they were going.

Hank, for those who are wondering, is an absent-minded man, sometimes.

He sort of forgot to tell anyone else.

And, see, Emma sleeps with Scott because he has no brain to read, and she finds it intriguing (much the same way Lwaxana Troi fell for a holodeck character).

And Jean died.

But no one noticed she wasn't human.

Y'know, I really, really like this theory.

*smirk* More than what's currently going on in the books, at least...

Oh, every now and again I swear they hire a crackhead for the writer.

....Yes, and his name was Grant Morrison.

Although Chris Claremont is apparently still stuck in the 80's.

Heh.

Eighties (early 90s) was the last time I was following X-Men with anything approacing regularity. And, being old, I take slight (amused) offense to the implied insult of "stuck in the 80's".

*g* Sorry. It's not exactly an insult. More that he seems to have ignored the past TEN YEARS of continuity, because obviously only the stuff he wrote matters. And he's retconned about half of what everyone did between then and now. It's just... kind of pathetic.

Of course, at least he stopped trying to make it true that Kitty was only 16...

Still wanna kick that little bitch's ass, though. Retconning Kitty's stuff with Pete? Gahh. *growls* I'm still of the firm belief that Kitty and Pete engaged in sex at least once when they were together, and Kitty was very much over the legal age in the States. *cries* I miss Ellis's run on Excalibur.

Dude. He COMPLAINED about her cold feet!

If that's not "We're sleeping together" I don't know what is....

And how often can you say that about anything associated with the Summers clan?

...

...don't make my head hurt like that. Heh.

*nods* *decides to make it canon!* Mwahahaha. Er... Lyssie-canon, anyway.

Yay for Lyssie-canon!

That would make an awesome story. Should throw Alex up there, too.

Alex is in the outback shacking up with Domino.

Are you saying you prefer Claremont's X-Treme X-Men (god help the marketroid who came up with that title) to Morrison and Whedon's runs? HAVE YOU THE BRAIN WORMS??!?

Oh, HECK no. I think Claremont is still living in the 80's, which sucks. I'd just... Like to ignore the last three years and pretend Ellis never left Excalibur.
