untitled fluff for Little Red

SCAM: SG-1, Jack and Sam. sillyness.

"It's a dog, sir."

"THAT is not a dog, Carter."

A muffled snicker came from somewhere below him, but Jack O'Neill firmly ignored it. He was, after all, clinging to the upper branches of a tree. A few snickers on the behalf of his Major wouldn't discomfit him. Nosirree. He was an Air Force Colonel, after all, and he was made of sterner stuff.

"Sir, it's all right, it's gone off somewhere. You can come down."

"Carter, this is NOT a laughing matter. That thing was gonna eat me!"

"Of course not, sir. Laughing never crossed my mind."

Grumbling about insubordinate Majors, Jack began descending the tree. "Major," he decided when he was nearly to the bottom. "Next time, you get to stay and watch Daniel look at his thingies."

"I do, sir?" There was still amusement in her tone. "But then, who will defend you from the dogs?"

"Carter," he informed her as he dropped to a crouch next to her. "Next time, you'll be the one up the tree."

Her eyebrows went up. "And how do you figure that, sir?"

"Because I'll be chasing you."

She tilted her head, blue eyes sparkling with amusement. "And what if I don't want to climb a tree?"

"There's probably cliffs I could chase you off, rivers you could have to cross."

"Ah." A nod. She was humoring him. Damn.

"Carter."

"Sir?"

"Come with me." Jack began walking to the north. It was a lovely, warm, summery day. And this was a fertile, empty planet (except for the rabid evil dog creatures). So, perhaps, Colonel Jack O'Neill can be forgiven for what he did.

As they approached the lake, Major Carter must have sensed something, because she paused. "Sir?"

He reached out and caught her arm. "C'mon, Major, just a little bit further."

That little bit further included him suddenly stooping, swinging her up in his arms (his back protested, because his Major was NOT a small woman), and throwing her into the large body of water.

She came up sputtering. "Sir!"

"Little wet, Carter?"

She glared at him. "Come closer, sir, and find out."

"Oh, no, I think I'll stay right here."

"Colonel." She informed him, striding out of the water. "Have I told you lately what a pain in the ass you are?"

"Insubordination, Major."

"I'm sure General Hammond would agree."

Her stalking gait suddenly halted with her in front of him, staring up with suddenly innocent blue eyes. "Still. I suppose you are kinda cute."

Jack's eyebrows went up. "Cute?"

"Yeah." She smirked, and threw her arms around him.

"Gyah!"

"You're right, Colonel," her tone was amused, "I am a little damp."

"Major," he said as he dropped his head to her shoulder, giving in to the inevitable, "You're all wet."
