raaagh

Oh, GOD, this is painful.

Attention: Do NOT WATCH the American Touching Evil. It will steal your soul.

There is not a single, recognisable character in it. Nor is there anything resembling good detective work. *shudders*

It makes me want to scream.

David Creegan: Completely insane, yet he's asked back. Claims to have been 'sent back' to stop the bad guys. Baby Jesus is crying. The real Creegan was very good at covering up how fractured he was, and he was only dead for about a minute, total. On the operating table.
Susan Branca: By the book hardass bitch. The real Susan Taylor could walk all over her faster than she can blink.
Faux!Kreitman: Barely noticeable.
Peter Wingfield: Obviously Rivers, but I have no fucking clue what his name on the show is. Rarely speaks.
Ronald Hinks: Not really scary. In fact, so un-scary as to make me mock him. And the real Hinks was creepy with just a look. This one is... boring.

There's a lot of good dialogue completely cut from this. We don't get the beautiful Rivers-tackles-Creegan-into-a-pile of leaves scene. It's so sad. We get a grabs the shoulders of scene. It's pathetic.

And there is no Barry. Dude, I HEART Barry. He's, like, my second-favourite-tv boyfriend.

There is an ex-Mrs. Creegan. No clue what her first name is.

The music isn't too bad, but it's not the haunting themes of the original.

However, the DOG is the best actor in the entire show.

There is an American version of Touching Evil? O_o

There is...

And it makes the Baby Jesus cry.

So it seems. o_o I could've told them that Touching Evil just loses a lot of what makes it so interesting when it's taken out of a British context. And no Robson Green?!

He was, in fact, offered the part. But he turned it down (smart man) saying it would be "like going back to school."

Perhaps he simply saw an early script, and went, "Oh, hell, no."

I tried to watch it...........but couldn't
Watched Wonderfalls instead.

Well, we watched Stargate first. And then went to a pub. But. We were determined to at least see how bad it was (and one roommate is obsessed with Peter Wingfield, so was sold)...

I don't think drinking helps in viewing the american touch of evil :)

I think I'm glad I missed it. It sounds horrible.

I did see Wonderfalls however. Liked the Lion. =) [even made a 5 second icon!]

Sadly, it's getting moderately good reviews compared to other American cop shows, which is making me wonder what's going on with TV these days.

Well, it would. After all, it's "New and different and dark" or some crap like that.

*mutter* American TV sucks ass.

See, now I'm thinking "Rivers/Creegan! OTP!"

...This is all your fault. :P

...HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Dude. That is so wrong, on so many levels. (but. Peter Wingfield could do it...)

I hear they even changed the dog's name. Granted, I never got what was funny about naming the dog Henry, but why would you change a dog's name?

Dorothy Parker once said: "If you haven't got anything nice to say, come sit next to me." I don't have USA network (naturally, because I'm in Québec, Canada), but I'd be very entertained by a TWOP-style recap of the remake, because I'm craving all the horrid details.

Damn, I wish I had the original on DVD. I wish they'd release all three series on DVD, not just the third. (Wish I had money for DVDs, too.)

I think I still have the first serial on tape, though. Just the first. Because Ian McDiarmid played Ronald Hinks, and I went through a phase of collecting everything he'd ever been in, and I realised I'd already seen him in that. I want to rewatch it now.

I remember the moment that cemented my love for the original. That was in "Killing with Kindness", the second serial of series 1. The scene with the push-pin. Brilliant.

Since I'm completely masochistic, and want to know when Susan breaks (as if this cardboard cutout could actually break), I will probably keep watching it. And attempting something like that.

Nothing near as detailed, though.... hrm

Guess what they're filming outside my apartment this very instant?

That's right. Touching Evil. :)
