1. I do still exist, I just sort of got distracted and stressed with month end close hitting right after DragonCon and the lead up to it (since I'm still covering the bulk of stuff J did as there's no new hire yet; and may not be, given the future is still sort of up in the air for where this company is going).

2. So. DragonCon happened, and it was excellent and a blast. I saw a couple of different panels, and watched Eddie McClintock (Agent dude from Warehouse 13) be hilarious. A lot. Also, even though they're probably doing it for the crowd, Joanne Kelly & Jaime Murray totally ship Myka/HG (and possibly Myka/HG/Pete, when they're bored). Eddie was also the best Masquerade MC I've seen. Gina Torres is apparently getting a Suits spin-off for her character, which is awesome for her (I don't like lawyer shows, but that is still good news).

3. Jacqueline Pearce has died. This is sad and depressing, as I loved her so (Servalan holds a dear dear place in my heart; not to mention her Big Finish character was smashing, too).

4. Eight is one of the snarkiest audio Doctors, and I love him so (I occasionally forget he's snarky, and then he zings out with something, and I'm like "OH EIGHT")

5. I sort of accidentally fell down the rabbit hole of shipping Molly/Sherlock. :/ It wasn't intentional, but now I can't really help it (possibly it's that like Mac and Caroline I just want them to go round making out everywhere, investigating dead bodies, solving crimes and not shooting people. idk). It's especially intense for the Victorian era, for some reason (I blame the sex voices they both use in their first meeting. And the sniping. If she'd pulled a gun on him, I might have been a goner the first time I saw them together)

6. I have yet to untangle my thoughts on season four (I keep intending to and then not and then Mary drifts across my brain, and I'm incandescent with rage and the futility of it and frustrated). It's a bit like how I haven't managed to watch the last two seasons of Person of Interest.

7. Scandal in Belgravia still continues to be a most effective wake-up at work. I wish I knew why. It's not like I ship Irene/Sherlock (well, not in Sherlock, at least? and let's be real, my Ritchie Holmes OTP is Irene/Mary with both of them bowing to convention with John and Sherlock and then devolving into a poly relationship that sometimes includes letting John and/or Sherlock have sex with them while they steal things or solve crimes. Whichever strikes their fancy and dammit now I'm typing this, I am going to fucking finish that Irene/Mary hen party fic if it's the last thing I do), or even think it's that great an episode (the denouement of the plane continues to make no fucking sense, time-wise. It really doesn't). But for some reason, any time I'm drifting off, if I scroll down and play any portion of it, I'm wide awake.

None of the other Sherlock episodes has that effect. :/

8. I am still hopeful for new Doctor Who. I've not actually managed to make it past the pyramid one in season eleven (I'm told it's the low point, but I just hit a point where I just didn't care so I stopped). Also, I'm pretty sure I have an unhealthy attachment to Clara Oswald (she was my all the world). I like Bill, but I don't really click with her - I didn't click very well with Donna in her season, either (I know, shocking, eh? I loved Runaway Bride, but actual companion!Donna left me cold until Turn Left).

9. also, that time that Ace and Seven almost got married continues to remain a thing of beauty (Dark Husband is not considered a good BFA, but it is so so hilarious and awesome).

2. Gina Torres spinoff, you say? I never got into the show (I am a very occasional lawyer-show watcher) because the dudes were SO AWFUL but for Gina, I will try another version.

8. I haven't been watching Doctor Who since partway through Eleven's run, apart from a brief try at Twelve who I didn't like because he was so shitty to Clara, but I'm here for a new Doctor! And we're the opposite on Donna - I didn't like The Runaway Bride much, but I loved her season.

2. It didn't have a name at the time. And basically, she pitched it to them and they thought it would work and she's one of the Executive Producers, so my fingers are crossed and I'm also torn between glee and terror (mostly because if it actually makes it a full season and it's successful, it's one more bit of proof that women do sell shows)

8. I don't know how much of my apathy is Donna herself - I think it's more that by the time her season rolled around I was so very done with RTD's writing style, and so it colored my view of her. In the abstract, I quite like her.

I am still behind in Doctor Who and haven't seen any of the Bill stuff. I never quite clicked with Clara unless she was on screen with Missy or Ashildr, at which point in time I was all, YES PLEASE, I WOULD LIKE MORE OF THIS AND ALL OF CLARA'S SCENES WITH THEM THANK YOU. But her stuff with the Doctor left me kind of meh? Possibly because I'm still Pond-obsessed. I don't know! Goddamnit. I just need all the New Who companions in a room and the Doctors can be stuck in an inescapable death trap until the companions get them out at the end of the episode. Or an extra long episode. Or maybe they spend the entire season snarking at each other until the companions get them out.

(Missy can help get them out. Or be stuck in the death trap snarking while the Doctors do their best to escape and keep failing. Because why not? I love her SO MUCH that I even watched Michelle Gomez's episode of Highlander: The Raven without too much complaining, but it was SO BAD, but that's because every episode of The Raven was SO BAD.)

Which leads me to believe that I'll probably love the new Doctor? I am hopeful for Thirteen!

I am still kind of meh on every iteration of Sherlock Holmes except Psych (because Jules is Irene SHUT UP SHE IS AS SMART AS SHAWN) and also that one where Dr. Watson is played by Lucy Liu and Irene is the same person as Moriarty and I really, deeply, totally terribly ship the ever-loving hell of Moriarty/Joan.

(Someday I will have the disposable income and buy more Big Finish.)

I think Clara's appeal was that she hit the same notes in cleverness that Jo Grant did? Idk. I have stopped trying to explain it (and shipping Clara/Twelve is like the more co-dependent version of Kitty/Pete)

I am so hopeful for Thirteen! I have occasionally just had moments of this utter sheer GLEE over her (ESPECIALLY BECAUSE of the St. Trinian's connection)

The Raven sounded like something I would love - and then I read about all of the behind the scenes fuckery, and went, "OH. Well then." so I've never actually managed to watch it. But I like to pretend that it was perfect, because I really like Amanda.

And I'd NO idea Michelle Gomez had been in it once. I almost want to find that episode.

(If you want more Michelle Gomez, I would recommend Sue White of Green Wing despite GW being somewhat utterly awful and desperately unfunny at times, Sue White is amazing)

I suspect my enjoyment of various versions of Holmes is due to nostalgia as my mother and I watched it a lot (Granada forever), and also because I like tall(ish) clever men with dark hair. (so embarrassed, ok, but let's look at the evidence: Sam Anders, John Sheppard, Pete Wisdom, various Doctors, Helo, Teal'c, Robson Green... Loki. um.)

*coughs* digressing.

Anyway, Big Finish produces some amazing content, and a lot of the time, I'm like "WHY are you so expensive, why." because I would buy almost everything they do. But I limit myself.

It probably helps justify it when I remember how much I spent on Farscape back in the day.

I must be vigilant to carve out Yuletide time or I'll have a very grim semester ahead of me.

Alas that you didn't fall in love with Bill. She wound up being my favorite new series companion (thus far). Wish she could have stayed on for 13, but I'm intrigued by the new crew. They seem to have a great rapport off the camera.
