sff: Lost Girl catchup 2x19 and 2x20
Cut for lots of major spoilers.
2x19. This episode, I don't. Ok. The last episode was crack-addled and ridiculous, and this episode was a completely different tone, and I don't care, because they are both painfully epic in their own ways, and I think I might love this one more than 1x18.
Yes. Yes, they killed Nadia. They had Bo do it (and whether on purpose or accident, but--) and it hurts so much. Because Bo killed her and she begged for it, and Lauren will never forgive herself. And probably not Bo, either.
But. As much as I'm saddened by it (because I'm tired of dead female characters), I think it fits the themes running through the episode and the season. And in its own way, the scene between Kenzi and Ryan was the same--not as deadly, of course, because the point of that was Kenzi getting him out of Ground Zero.
(erm, I'm sorry, his name is Nate, isn't it. Idk why I think he's Ryan, but he's been that in my head for weeks. Oh, shit, Ryan was the dude Bo was sexing up, wasn't he? er. way to really mix up the dudes. At least that Ryan was entertaining? Nate is... meh.)
This show. It is ridiculously epic. Bo is a threat to the garuda and it knows it. She is the Chosen One in all her succubusy glory, and she needs the people around her as a base.
(and can we talk about how Trick and Bo said the same thing to Kenzi? And while I think Trick believes it, I don't think Bo does)
OH THIS SHOW.
(also, Kenzi made a Magneto's helmet joke. <3)
(ok, also, I am sad for Kenzi, but I didn't like Nate all that much as I felt he was sort of, erm, sudden and deus ex machina-ey in his sudden appearance and etc)
Oh, right. One last bit. I'm not quiiiite happy about "Two dudes think the successful woman is doing something wrong. And she is! So, she is probably killed." There's a bit of, er, I'm not sure what I'm looking for, there. But I don't like it.
Also, Hale. <3 Smart boy.
2x20. HI CIARA. *ships her and Bo, because holy shit, that look when she walked into the bar. unf*
ahem.
Can I talk about how Ciara and Bo kicked the asses of the minions they fought? Because they did. And then there was that scene where they thought the dudes were back, and all three chicks were on their feet, weapons ready. CAN I HAVE THIS TEAM THE WHOLE TIME, BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME. THANKS.
Lauren and her awkward geekery and her NEED to be held and comforted and then her almost running. LAUREN <3 <3 <3 (you need therapy, baby, but I don't think you're gonna get it. Maybe someone can run group sessions?)
shit, man, Ciara is so hot. I can't help it. I have bad feelings about this episode.I also may have happily spoiled myself
I also have suspicions about what Dyson heard--that they're going to lose before he wins. IF he wins.
OH CIARA NO. NO NO NO. WHY. This show, you guys, it's breaking me and it's making me angry. First Nadia, now Ciara. If they don't kill Dyson and Lachlan, too.
Ah. There goes Lachlan. Excellent.
Though, show, I really don't approve of you trying to make Lachlan out to be some sort of good guy. He was slimy and obnoxious and I disliked him immensely. HE LOCKED LAUREN UP FOR DAYS AND STOLE HER LIFE. So, fuck you, show.
This was definitely a "setup and kill people" episode, and while I respect that it makes two of them in a row. Srsly, folks, if you didn't have enough plot for the season, you could have brought in, oh, the dark fae crew? Like our beloved Morrigan, for instance.
(OMG THIS SHOWDOWN WAS SO HILARIOUSLY UNEPIC. show, I loooove yououuuu)
ANYWAY. All that aside? This is still a highly entertaining show, and I sort of deeply love it in ways that probably reveal far too much about my id. Or about how intoxicated I am.
ALSO. CIARA WAS A FAERY. Not just a Fae, but a FAERY. Well, ok, that may not be a specific definition, but, whatever. (omg show, faery warriors. eee)
eta: ok, no, I'm not happy that Nadia and Ciara are dead, and I don't like that they died, but I also... don't feel like it was overly gratuitous? (like, Ciara's was, a little, but Nadia's just felt painful and sad and painful, and it fit and stuff) Mostly, I feel like the writers are preparing to shatter the world for Bo completely, and they don't want her left with any sort of support system outside of Kenzi.

The casualness of Trick basically telling the garuda to just go away is what makes it epic.
You know, what I don't get about Lachlan is why he didn't just HIRE Lauren instead? I mean, like the old Ash, he wanted to keep her around for her brain and because fae apparently don't think in sciencey ways (even Ryan's inventions are more along the lines of mischevious toys than anything else...I doubt he'd know how to put out anything with a simply, practical use that didn't have a bit of magic mixed in) and I'm pretty sure that since she knows about the fae and has been so closely involved with its operations that she can't actually just leave, but I suspect that it'd work a lot better for her (and be reflected in her work) if it was formed much more pleasantly? I also weonder if his death means the old Ash is coming out of his coma soon, or if there'll be another new one.

Trick is sort of ridiculously awesome, yes.
As for hiring Lauren -- I don't think it would ever occur to Lachlan. Lauren's human, after all, and the Fae really don't see them as anything more than tools, slaves or food. You don't offer food a job.
Then again, if he did consider it, he probably also considered the probable reaction to an offer of work from Lauren. IE, he's part of the whole group of people who have kept her bound as a servant/slave for five years (and treated her like a piece of equipment he owned when they first met), and what sane or intelligent human is going to say "Gosh, I'd love to work for the people who owned me!" ?
