wut.

Jean then reconciles with Cyclops and fully bonds with the Phoenix Force and ascends to a higher plane of existence called the "White Hot Room"

....wtf.

THIS IS WHY ONE DOES NOT READ MARVEL COMICS ANYMORE, KIDS.

I . . . um . . . I'm pretty sure I've read about the "WHITE HOT ROOM" in the weepingcocks community?

*snickers* Quite possibly.

Wait, what? I'm so out of the loop on X-Men right now.

I am hoping it is a wikipedia failure, and did not actually exist as an actual plot. In reality.

[identity profile] spiletta42.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Is this something I could learn by driving my lazy self down to the comic shop?

Possibly. Wikipedia's footnote claims it was part of Phoenix: End Song, by Greg Pak. (suddenly, it becomes entirely possible) I read that one, and I don't remember the White Room. It is possible I blocked it out, though.

Oh, good grief, LJ.

P:ES is one of those 'alternate future' minis.
I'm pissed about the upcoming "Iron Age".

[identity profile] spiletta42.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Then this is not something I'm likely to already own without realizing. I try to avoid 'alternate future' stuff in most fandoms, which makes it hard to keep up with the Summers family, actually.

[identity profile] lilacsigil.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
The white hot room itself was in mainstream continuity under Grant Morrison, but the bit where the Jean/Phoenix meld goes there and everyone talks about how much they love her is out of continuity. (I didn't mind it originally - it was just a scary Phoenix place!)

[identity profile] vampirehunter85.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this was a Grant Morrison thing? Okay, then we shouldn't expect it to even make the slightest bit of sense. I mean, this is the guy who had Superman defeat Darkseid by singing.

I wish I could, but I'd have to dig up comics. Though it sounds like it was some sort of alternate future thingie.

Thank God for alternate universes, then.

Yeah, but I stopped reading main-X comics/tie-ins in 1997. (some of them snuck past, like anything with Pete Wisdom or Kitty on her own. Ok, and Cable and Deadpool, especially that one time there were LITTLE HEARTS everywhere)

And I read Endsong, or I thought I had. Idk. I seem to recall cackling when Greg "Jean is a Zombie, yay!" Pak wrote BSG comics with an everyone turns into a zombie virus. (I am still fond of his brand of crack. sigh. it is a sickness)

ok I've not read marvel for long time, but REALLY!
I fell in love with Jean Grey in the 70's (what I'm an old lady). on and off through the 90's when she was frakking awesome. There is no way she can reconcile with Cyclops and then go off to a what( who gives a fuck. Jean Grey is the Phoenix. Phoenix are mythological and eternally immortal. Could this story just be shit cause they can't think up a coherent storyline for her or is the male dna just insulting everyone with their droolage of jackassedness.

JEAN GREY- PHOENIX ROCKS ON SHE DOESN'T RETIRE!
