tv catchup: Lost Girl, Ark, Nikita, Pretty Little Liars
Cut mostly for length, though there's probably some spoilers? idk
Ark - It's a short, web series (I think that's what they call them?) about Renee O'Connor being stuck on a giant spaceship. It's very atmospheric and a bit camp, and I liked it enough to marathon all of the episodes as fast as possible. Unfortunately, Hulu has it with lots of commercials. Ugh.
Anne of Green Gables - Yes, they cut things out of the book, but OMG. Still so incredible. Megan Follows has some of the most delightful expressions EVER. And, er, it sort of makes me ship Anne/Diana now, possibly in a one-sided "Anne doesn't realize how much Diana loves her" way.
Nikita - Episode nine. Hey, writers, nice to see you remember Jaden. Now can you give her more to do than be your token black chick who doesn't like Alex? Yeah, having Maggie Q as your lead doesn't negate this wince-worthy fact. And can we have no more Michael episodes? He never learns anything interesting and is always dumb at the end. How Alex continues to not be found out simply amazes me (I'm good with everything else in the show, but, really? No one can tell that she spends too much time on the computer or work out the correlation of "Alex on computer: Nikita shows up"?)
Lost Girl - I'm still behind by one episode. But. Vexed. Or Vex. Or whatever. Sigh. I hate characters like him. otoh, what the hell, Bo. You get all tricked out and covered in weapons and sacrifice mobility and... manage nothing. Sigh. BUT OTOH. HELLO, WITCHBLADE. I demand crossover crack with Sara Pezzini showing up, pissed since it's gone missing. She totally knows Hale and Dyson from the Old Days, and they once tried to recruit her into the Light Fay (but no one likes to talk about that). Also, I, er... I really sort of find the whole subplot of "Who is Bo's Mother?" a little bland? I actually fast-forwarded through all her scenes with the prison inmate. (and it's not that I dislike Mother Mystery plots, because, hello, Haven and Audrey's search which I wanted them to spend more time on)
Pretty Little Liars - IT IS LIKE A CHRISTOPHER PIKE/CAROLINE B COONEY BOOK ON TV. It is also chock-full of women who drive the narrative and manage to be very different people. I've seen five episodes, pls no spoilers. I sort of intensely want fic of Spencer cross-dressing? I really enjoy it, as it's cracktastic and witty and just... I don't know how to explain why I like it so much? It's like mind-candy, even with some of the fail plots. BUT BUT there are SO MANY PLOTS that the fail ones are easy to ignore? And it has some dude who looks like James Marsden (poor lad, I don't ever remember his name). Occasionally, the show even remembers that it's supposed to be set in high school. ALSO. It is like TV bingo. Mia from Eastwick, the kid sister from Bionic Woman, Piper from Charmed, McGee's sister from NCIS, Kendra from Buffy... In some universe, these all exist in the same place. (also, canon lesbianism.)
Also, Aria? Kenzi can get away with that wardrobe because it fits her personality, but you? No. Please let Spencer or Hanna give you some tips.

I make no excuses for the way she's been written so far, but the absence was due to prior commitments on the part of the actress. Hopefully, now that they have her full time, they can do something with her.
