The only Canon I know on her is that she is alive as of The Passenger and that she knits. Also her writng is terrible but that could just be Jayne's reading skills. I've pretty much taken Joss's comments the Jayne was inspired by Johny Cash's "Boy Named Sue" and written my own backstory from there.
