1. I'm highly amused at the anon BSG/XF kink meme. It seems to be mostly Roslin/Adama kink suggestions, with a side of Roslin kink requests and RPF. I'm vaguely curious if that has to do with Kara/Lee falling off the Most Prized OTP bandwagon, or if it's because it's mostly been posted around Roslin/Adama fans?

2. Unsurprisingly, despite the requests for non-con, rape fic, fic that makes no sense and kinks that make me go O.o, it's still a mention of Sam Anders that brings out the character hate. Man. Bitter shippers can't leave well enough alone.

3. Although, it has now brought us bsg_kink (the kink meme, not the pointless character bashing)

I find it amusing, as I was thinking recently that BSG never really has had a kink meme (you know, those places where people post requests and other people fulfill them).

eta: So, the owner of the kink meme has replied, and is totally OK with the Sam bashing. Don't you just fucking love this fandom?

eta2: I'm told the character-bashing has been frozen/deleted now. yay?

I hadn't heard of this kink meme until you mentioned it, here. I was pleased that we finally merited a porn battle this year (with the prospect of more to come).

Sad to see the Sam hate has worked its way in there, though. :(

I think it leans heavily A/R and Mary McDonnell lust because that's who got there first (the person who started it and her flist). And maybe other shippers got intimidated away? But I have noticed the Great K/L Shipper Flounce of Ought Nine has changed the make-up of general BSG fandom a little. :)

Hm. I forgot to mention, being a subject loosely related to this, Carrier13 now owns Starbuck's BDU set. Her viper suit and officer uniform went for way too much, and we mocked the selling price of Six's little red dress. He also bid on Ander's uniform but lost.

Heh, you know the dream I mentioned with Ann Coulter? It was about Kara/Lee shippers trying to ban/delete all fic with Sam in it from bsg2003fics. There was a chorus of "you erased us from canon; we'll erase you from fandom." It was horrible, I tell you! And possibly precognitive.

There is NO WAY an anonymous kink meme could be run in BSG fandom without wank. None. Because the fandom is peopled by folks who think tantrums are a legit rhetorical move.

I posted a response to the idiot I just couldn't resist. I find all of this so funny I was giggling the whole time I was posting. I still can't get over the idea that think they were entitled to a Kara+Lee=truluv4eva ending. I don't even really care if they get pissed off at me. Having survived the massive mess that was the Jericho shipper wars I'm fairly certain I'll survive anything they can dish out anyway. If shipper nation wants to come after me I dare them to try.

Well, no one was entitled to anything, but it is sort of obvious that Ron and co. kept sticking random Kara/Lee in to string the shippers along. (which is why I generally feel sorry for large portions of them)

To answer the question about A/R, I think there's so much of it on the meme because for the better part of the day, the meme was only posted to icedteainthebag's LJ and the bulk of BSG fans on her f-list are A/R shippers. And a lot of us have a really, really hard time shutting up.

More Sam prompts, please! I've never written Sam porn before, but perhaps now is the time. As a political statement. *ahem*

Anyhow, I'm disappointed by all the bashing. It doesn't seem to be in the spirit of kink memes.

Yeah, I figured that was part of it--I do tend to think part of it is also that A/R has taken over the fandom (which is not a bad thing), because of the amount of K/L shippers that wandered off over time.

And those numbers aren't as noticeable from general fic comms, because the A/R posters tend not to crosspost a gazillion times.

I need to stop thinking about statistical analysis, sheesh

Kink memes should be about kinks! And glee! And smut, really. And if I could come up with Sam prompts I would post them.
