The word angel is a sticking point with me because of its Judeo-Christian connotations. I associate angels with blind obedience and as being in the service of an all-powerful god. If life in the BSG-verse is cyclical (and, in my opinion, reincarnation-based), I don't understand how traditional angels fit in.
Not that I don't love the idea of Kara with wings (I do!), but I'm still trying to piece it all together. :)
Well. What do you think head!Six and Gaius were, if not angels? (and I must be one of those odd people who doesn't associate angels with just one faith)
My personal canon, while fluid, pretty much figures they all have the wings (if they want them), and that god is... well... sort of like a small child. Or Loki. Trickster Gods would be much more into the sort of playing that the one in BSG did.
Though I doubt Ron was planning for the Force Of The Universe to be considered a bad/evil thing.
I don't think Kara's the same as head!Six and Gaius. I think they're different entities, not human or cylon, but only because Ron Moore said so. I think they're in the service of the higher power, and that there are probably others like them, but I don't place Kara in that category.
My personal canon is pretty fluid as well. I think Kara's a part of the reincarnation cycle. I think the cycle includes an in-between stage, the place Sam referred to as The Other Side. I think that during this stage Kara can inhabit a physical body and have fun (wink, wink), and that her "resurrection" was just this, except that her memory was toyed with by the Higher Power.
The Higher Power as a trickster god seems to fit. I don't see it as bad/evil, just like a child playing with an ant farm. Maybe. I'd like to think of the Higher Power as the general fabric of the universe, as physics, rather than a conscious being, if it weren't for that pesky final line by head!Gaius.
