Totally not what you meant, but oh wow: Mother issues. Father issues. Daughter figure to the series lead. Stuck exploring the universe. Stormy relationship with the series lead. You don't know what happens to her in the end! Kara == Peri Brown (without money).
You know what's funny? I was thinking about the Peri, back when the head!Six/Gaius thing made it clear they were... y'know, angels or whatever. And I wondered if that had been Ron's original intention.
Is this for fic? Please say yes. 'cause I want fic. And even if it IS for fic, do you mind at all if I use some of it for mine? 'cause it totes would work...
It was a question/idea Palmetto had: that Kara was an angel/ascended what have you before she came to be born as Kara Thrace.
Which is actually a vaguely fascinating idea (though I don't think Ron would like it, since it undermines the whole idea of what makes us human, not that he's ever really bothered to get into that sort of philosophy very well).
My personal canon is always sort of vaguely fluid, in some ways--like, New Caprica and Kara's did she/didn't she cheating--so I can go for her always having been one, or never having been one until Maelstrom--
And I can go for her going back in time now to sucker Sam Anders, physicist musician about the impending apocalypse, even though she knows it won't stop it...
It was, um, for random purposes? And because I was stuck on writing fic that didn't have to do with it. Mostly.
The word angel is a sticking point with me because of its Judeo-Christian connotations. I associate angels with blind obedience and as being in the service of an all-powerful god. If life in the BSG-verse is cyclical (and, in my opinion, reincarnation-based), I don't understand how traditional angels fit in.
Not that I don't love the idea of Kara with wings (I do!), but I'm still trying to piece it all together. :)
Well. What do you think head!Six and Gaius were, if not angels? (and I must be one of those odd people who doesn't associate angels with just one faith)
My personal canon, while fluid, pretty much figures they all have the wings (if they want them), and that god is... well... sort of like a small child. Or Loki. Trickster Gods would be much more into the sort of playing that the one in BSG did.
Though I doubt Ron was planning for the Force Of The Universe to be considered a bad/evil thing.
I don't think Kara's the same as head!Six and Gaius. I think they're different entities, not human or cylon, but only because Ron Moore said so. I think they're in the service of the higher power, and that there are probably others like them, but I don't place Kara in that category.
My personal canon is pretty fluid as well. I think Kara's a part of the reincarnation cycle. I think the cycle includes an in-between stage, the place Sam referred to as The Other Side. I think that during this stage Kara can inhabit a physical body and have fun (wink, wink), and that her "resurrection" was just this, except that her memory was toyed with by the Higher Power.
The Higher Power as a trickster god seems to fit. I don't see it as bad/evil, just like a child playing with an ant farm. Maybe. I'd like to think of the Higher Power as the general fabric of the universe, as physics, rather than a conscious being, if it weren't for that pesky final line by head!Gaius.
I thought she was a "special" human who was destined to die and be resurrected as an Angel, maybe because her father was one (I guess if they have bodies they have all the little gametes?) but I like the idea that she was an angel from the beginning who descended, and maybe her whole life was a punishment for pissing off Don't Call Me God, or she lost a bet with Lucifer or something. Hmm!
And even if Sam is in the Elysian Fields, if Kara is an Angel she can go anywhere/have anything she wants. So. :P

maybe Kara *is* a Peri

Or rather, yes. Yes.

And the Peri would work hand in hand with Loki...

ETA: because if the show made anything explicit in the finale, they were going to meet up again when it was all over. "See you on the other side"

Well, yes. I'm torn between that, and them running around, scaring people and throwing water balloons. ;]

BTW, I saw "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" pilot and it was great.
