sff: ?????

BSG: Yeah, I got nothing.
Except Paulla was awesome.

Er. And Gaius Baltar apparently has Pete Wisdom's dad. HAROLD! GOOD TO SEE YOU.

And I called it that we'd never see Kara and Sam interacting in any sort of meaningful way.

No. Wait, I do have a reaction.

FUCK YOU, BILL ADAMA. FUCK YOU. WHEN was she your daughter, you asshole? When she spent a month worried about her comatose husband? When you ignored her after she came back? When you choked her? When you knocked a chair out from under her?

FUCK YOU.

eta:

1. Athena. I hate this plotline so hard. Can she go back to shooting people now?
2. OMG RACETRACK. AND SKULLS IS ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
3. Paulla. <3
4. IT IS NOW CANON THAT KARA CAN COOK.
5. Also, I was totes expecting Leoben when she opened the door. I was sorely disappointed.

Word. I want to kick him.

4. IT IS NOW CANON THAT KARA CAN COOK.

Yay! Is it weird that I kind of hate it when everyone assumes that any female character living on her own cannot cook?

I hate it when everyone assumes a woman can cook. So I suppose that makes us even?

Heh. I just hate it that it seems to be a fanon thing where a strong, independent woman who loves her work -- Sam Carter, Kara Thrace, Brennan -- can't cook for the life of her and turns helpless in the kitchen.

It irks me. They don't have to be fabulous cooks, or even like cooking, or want to cook... but seriously, they're supposed to fall apart at the notion of boiling some water for pasta?

No. But it's sort of backlash against the idea that all women, everywhere, are obviously marvelous, gourmet cooks who do nothing but stand around barefoot in the kitchen all day.

And I don't know where you've been hanging out, but I haven't read or seen anything where any of those women collapse into hysterics because they've burned water. They might all prefer take-out menus and frozen pizza (and Brennan can cook, btw, it's frelling canon). I know I do.

I've read really horrible SG-1 fic where Sam can't prepare a MRE, much less food for herself, and the men of SG-1 run in terror at the idea of her preparing a meal because she destroys all kitchens. I just hate how there's such an importance placed on whether or not female characters cook. It's so irritating, because that's rarely ever the case in regards to male characters.

And until they showed Brennan cooking on the show, I saw the same theme in Bones fic, where Booth had to teach Brennan how to cook or else she'd burn the kitchen down.

Dude, Bones fic is some of the worst shit I've ever seen, hands down. I think I've read all of three, in total. And two of them were excellent pieces on the porn battles. The rest? I skim two sentences and run screaming.

Though now you've got me wondering if the producers/writers read the fic and threw her cooking in there to smack them down. I might find that kinda awesome.
