current BSG fic/meta things annoying me.

1. Dee was not strong enough to accept Billy's deep and meaningful love. (really?) While I do think things with Billy were sort of a catalyst, I also think she does (and did) love Lee.

2. Kara turned down utter happiness to marry mediocre happiness.

3. Cylons are evil and should be destroyed in the fires of creation. I don't know when I started having Cylon love and understanding, but I think it started with the fact that there just aren't enough people for the human race to be viable if the Cylons aren't around. So, suck it, haters.

Huh. I think I had another one, but now I've forgotten it.

1&2, what? Brain does not comprehend.

3. I can see people hating the Cylons, I'm an unashamed Cylon fan and I'm still irritated that they have never once apologized for destroying humanity. But, the first episode I ever really saw with any intention of watching the show was Downloaded, so yeah. I was a lost cause to Team Cylon from the beginning. One-dimensional robot villains are so boring.

I actually like the cylons too. But I am having a hard time believing that the humans would forgive them or even work with them. I think it would be like asking Jews in 1950 to forgive and/or work with Nazis/Germans. I just don't see that happening. Remember that Prez Adar offered unconditional surrender to the cylons and they refused. They took the 12 colonies from probably about 50 billion people to 50,000. Probably everyone in the fleet has had some family members and friends who were killed.

Oh, yes. I've always found the Cylons fascinating, but I tend to use "like" when referring to them the same way that I say "I really like Gaius Baltar." The point where humans and Cylons intersect/crossover is a large part of why I enjoy the show so much. I'm fascinated by the way they think, even when it frustrates me. I just don't get understand when people say that they wish that the Cylons had stayed evil robots though, we're watching the show for different things I guess.

But yeah, I have a very hard time seeing how the alliance will work out as well. The Cylons haven't earned the forgiveness of the colonials, and they don't seem interested in having it. I remember Leoben talking about how much it sucked to be chased around the universe by Cavil and his forces and thinking, "gee, wouldn't that suck to be on the run with limited resources against an implacable enemy". A little self-awareness would be nice there, Leoben.

Ok, that's actually a really bad comparison to make. I love the Cylons much more than Baltar. I should have just said I <3 complex and interesting characters and left it at that.

3. I'm not sure if they know how to apologize. They're still learning.

Hah, posted while I had the comment window open to figure out what to say. I don't think they do know how, yet. I'm still hopeful that they might figure it out though.
