Skiffy's boards.

Full of scariness, including the part where... there are vocal males in fandom. wtf? Who gave them a voice? Full of wank and really stupid commentary, too.

Things what I have learned:
1. No one wanted Amanda Tapping on BSG until now (sad).
2. Apparently, Ben and Claudia are the reasons Farscape and SG-1 were cancelled 'prematurely'.
3. Kara/Lee shippers say good night to each other. For pages. WOW.
4. I got name-checked. First, one of my desktops. Second, I'm apparently someone's favorite Kara/Anders writer. (um, yay?)
5. Using my pointless log in to continually picspam Anders and Kara/Anders on the respective threads is a bad thing. Really. At least I'm not responding to myself.
6. BSG fandom is not as well-versed in capitalization and spelling and grammar as LJ would lead me to believe.
7. At least there isn't BSG virtual season wank. Yet.

eta: please consider there to be spoilers in the comments. Also. Jean Grey dies.

No, no they haven't. Sadly.

I suppose I shouldn't go over there and say "SHE'S DEAD (AT LEAST FOR NOW) AND ALL YOU IDIOTS CAN THINK ABOUT IS WHICH MAN SHE SHOULD BE FRAKKING? THERE'S A LOT MORE TO KARA THRACE THAN HER VAGINA AND WHO SHE GRANTS ACCESS TO IT!" but it is tempting, and I say this as a person who ships Kara/Lee. I just want her back.

Does it make me a bad person that I don't really want to interact with menfolk in fandom? I'm sure there are exceptions to the "tries to dominate conversation with repeated stupid assertions because his penis means he knows better than all you silly girls" rule, but...you know?

Well, I could be wrong. I haven't poked the Starbuck or Kara threads. I've just eyed the K/L one and happily bombarded people with Kara/Anders. (because I'm shallow like that)

And there was one thread about how Katee was a bitch until her recent interview, and other stuff which made me want to rant about how women shouldn't have to be nice and, um. made me ranty. yes.

In all honesty, there are quite a few lovely and capable of being intelligent men-folk in fandom. I know several, not to mention, my start in fandom was being surrounded by guys, and I occasionally miss it, since, um. Girls tend to be more hateful towards female characters.

I think I have one male on my flist here (via the Stargates), and he's fine. I should try not to judge the rest by the annoying ones at Skiffy or TWoP.

One of my least favorite things is when women hate a female character solely because they're jealous that she's an actual or potential love interest for a male character they have a crush on. Because she's the only thing standing between them and True Love with the FICTIONAL male character or something.

The sad thing is, I think most of the scary people I know (Skiffy and teh List) are women. Except Jaka. Jaka is like the scariest exception to every rule.

YES. Or she's too perfect. Or has too many flaws. Or is not male, which is what it usually seems to be.

I call that Riley Finn syndrome, regardless of the direction the gender polarity is flowing.
