Con rates...

I know that the big US cons can charge a lot of money for their registration at the door and for pre-reg... But, seriously, who the fuck is going to pay $120 for Archon? That's twice as much as Dragon*Con's last pre-reg, for only 10% of the programming.

It's probably really wrong that I want the con to fail at getting people to come to it (it's also set the weekend before Wizard World and a month before Dragon*Con. Yeah, don't think I'll be budgeting it in).

But then, I am mean.

It's a decent con, mostly for the wandering around in costume and buying crap stuff. I know there are panels and autographs, but I've never done that.

Sadly, it's not a night-time con, so after about 5, there's nothing to do.

I bet it's in part because they're hosting NASFIC, with WorldCon in Japan this year. That rate is pretty standard for a WorldCon.

This is true. I just... have no idea what they're going to promise to the people who've never done Archon. It's small! It's the St. Louis Party Con Central, but it's tiny compared to something like DC or WorldCon.

I would really like to go to the San Diego ComiCon.
